-Happy Valley emerge the Best Inter-County Series winner at Thika Greens while the Four-Ball team of Konzolo, Songwa, Muhando and Oketch clinch the 2024 KCB East African Golf tour series Title at Kakamega and Kosgei survives on a two way count back score to win the Wakili title at Machakos;

Happy Valley collected a total of 380 points to win the Inter-County title in the Mount Kenya Inter County Golf series played at the Thika Green Golf Resort Course (TGGR) on Saturday.
Handicap 27 Francis Nabuk carded 45 points to claim the Individual overall winner’s title while handicap 4 Cyprian Bundi was the overall best gross winner on 74 gross.

Peter Mwangi playing off handicap 12 won the Men title on 40 points beating handicap 12 Ndiga Kithae to the runner up with a single point difference.
Handicap 22 Magdalene Mbugua who returned a score of 36 points and handicap 14 Martin Kinyua with 39 points were the TGGR Lady and Men winners respectively.
The lady winner on 41 points was handicap 17 Ann Kanori and Carol Kibanya playing off handicap 21 was the runners up after returning a score of 35 points.


Munge King’ori playing off handicap 36 carded 46 points to win the Subsidiary Men prize and handicap 46 Phyllis Ndiang’ui was the same winner for the Ladies on 43 points.
Ndika Kithae and Susan Hiuko were the Nearest to the pin Man and Lady winners respectively while handicap 29 Jared Mirasi returned 12 points in both nines to win the Best Effort Prize.

Club Captain Henry Kinyua thanked golfers for turning in large numbers to make the event sccessful and urged to continue training in preparations for more forthcoming events lined up  at the Club.

BRIAN JAYSIN OF OXYGENE PR ADDS, Meanwhile at the nine hole Kakamega Golf Course in Western Kenya County, the four-ball of Cedric Konzolo, Jack Songwa, Victor Muhando and Julius Oketch returned a combined score of 116 points to clinch the Kakamega leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the 9-hole course on Saturday.
James Mundia, Kunal Chandaria, Maureen Mundia, and Ivan Poakas claimed the second spot after returning a combined score of 113 points at the tourney graced by 115 golfers.
The two teams have secured their places in the tour’s grand finale slated for December 6 at the Muthaiga Golf Club.
Speaking after the win, Konzolo said, “I am very eager to represent my home club at the grand finale. We had an amazing four-ball. We challenged each other to play well and that is exactly what we did. The greens were good and the fairways wide enough.”

Cedric Konzolo, a seasoned golfer, individually carded 41 stableford points to be named the overall winner of the day, beating a large field that headlined the regional competition.
While Kunal Chandaria carded 40 points to clinch the men’s winner award, Lydia Oketch on the other hand returned 40 stable ford points to bag the lady winner award.
Aaron Kitur from Eldoret Golf Club secured the longest drive award in the men’s category while A. Wanjiku from Kitale Golf Club bagged it in the ladies’ category and Jinja’s Steve Kitamarike claimed the nearest to the pin.
Kitale’s Edwin Chesum carded an excellent score of 36 stable ford points to win the guest winner award in the competition that featured golfers from Kakamega, Jinja, Tororo, Mbale, Royal, Kakamega, Nakuru, Karen, Nandi, Eldoret and Nyanza.


The staff winner award was won by Victor Odendo with 35 points, Eliud Siganga, a regular staff winner settled for second place after returning 29 points and Elvis Mbakaya won the junior winner award.
The Bank conducted a juniors’ golf clinic on Sunday morning at the same venue and a tree planting initiative to contribute to environmental conservation efforts through the golf series.
The tour will head to Burundi on April 27, before the Nakuru leg later in May.
KCB has committed Sh65 million towards the series tour that kicked off at the Mombasa Golf Club in January featuring twenty counties in Kenya and four other countries in the East African region namely Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda fielding two tournaments each.
The Kenyan legs of the tour includes Mombasa, Eldoret, Kakamega, Nakuru, Limuru, Nyanza, Machakos, Thika, Ruiru Sports Club, Kericho, Nyeri, Railway, Nandi Bears, Great Rift Valley, Sigona, Kitale, Kisii, Leisure, Vipingo Ridge and Malindi Golf Club.
The December grand finale will see 168 golfers from across the region grace the amateur tournament compared to last year’s 116 players who headlined the event.
The Bank has also partnered with Beulah City Ltd, a property firm, who have committed to give an apartment (in the Ikhaya Beulah Genesis project) valued at KShs.2.1 million as the hole in one prize for every leg of the 2024 tour.
KCB Bank footprint in sports support in the country is expansive and cuts across various sports disciplines.
The Bank has its sports brand assets that include the KCB Women Volleyball Club, KCB Football Club and KCB Rugby Club besides other sports including Chess, athletics, and golf.
The long-standing tradition of sponsoring major sporting events in the country has seen the Bank pump millions of shillings in sponsorships over the years.
Elsewhere, at Machakos Country Course on the same day, handicap 28 Vivian Kosegei survived on a two way count back score of 40 points to emerge the overall winner of the Wakili Golf Tournament.
He had tied on the same score with Men winner handicap28 Anthony Gitu and Men runner up handicap Mark Makau while handicap 4 James Ndunda was third on a score of 37 points.
Nancy Kariuki playing off handicap 13 was the Lady winner on 39 points and handicap 30 Alice Abere settled for the runners up on a score of 34 points.
The guest prize was claimed by handicap 35 Lilian Loko on a count back score of 38 points after tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 10 and Anthony Muita.
The handicap winners’ prize for men above 29 handicap was won by handicap 35 Karoki Gathungu with 33 points and handicap 32 Vincent Musalia was the runner up with a score of 31 points.
Handicap 44 Gladys Titi was the lady handicap winner for the ladies above 37 handicaps awhile handicap 41 Ruth Mbeti brought 35 points to claim the runners up slot.
B.M.Mungatia playing off handicap 16 won the Sponsor’s prize after returning 39 points while Joe Mboya playing off handicap 16 was the runner up on 35 points.
The senior prize was claimed by handicap 16 L.M.Kamba on 34 points while Lucia Mwaniki went home smiling with the Nearest to the Pin award.
