Nyali golf and country club’s Daniel Nduva overcame challenging rivals in a four day’s course battle to finally be crowned the 2025 Professional Golfers of Kenya (PDK) Equator Tour champion that ended at the par 73 Ruiru Sports Club course in Kiambu county on Sunday.
Nduva’s journey to the top leaderboard started off on a sound note, taking the day one lead on a 5 under par 66 gross, tied for day two lead with Muthaiga’s Njoroge Kibugu on a 4 under par 69 gross each, and reclaimed the top spot in day three with an under par 68 gross.

He finally nailed the last round on Sunday with a 2 under par 71 gross to carry his total combined tally for an excellent 274 gross to emerge the overall champion.
“In golf one should never give up, but just focus on your game with a positive mind and you will make it. I was indeed stable, despite the cold weather and tough rivals in pursuit, but my game went on well and am so humbled to the champion. Now we are eagerly waiting for the next tournament while I thank the organizers for the success of this four days’ activities and prayers from all my supporters, “said Nduva.
Hot in pursuit and missing the top slot by only two strokes difference was David Wakhu who brought 276 gross (70-67-68-71) to claim the runners up place while Kibugu Njoroge sat third with a total of 277 gross (69-66-69-73).
Others among the top ten leaders are. John Karichu-279 gross, Eric Oouko-280 gross, Robinson Owiti-284 gross, Greg Snow-286 gross, Gaita Rodel-287 gross, Junaid Manji-69-72-76-71-288 gross and Simon Ngige-289 gross.
This four-days, 72-hole ’stroke play tour is the first organized PGK Tour at Ruiru that featured more than fifty of Kenya’s professional golfers across the country.
The tournament is among the 11-month legs currently traversing twelve courses across the country and the next action is scheduled to be staged at Mt Kipipiri golf resort from 14th to 17th August 2025, before culminating in a grand finale scheduled for 5th to 8th February 2026 at Muthaiga Sports Club.
Safaricom PLC Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa said they believe in creating more opportunities for young Kenyans to realize their full potential both on and off the field.
“Through this partnership with PGK, we are investing in these four exceptional golfers and I wish them the very best as they embark on this journey that forms part of the PGK’s Player Development Plan (PDP). The plan is structured with mentorship and training programmes designed to equip emerging golfers with the skills, discipline and exposure needed to thrive locally and internationally in competitive golf, “said Ndegwa.
Four professional golfers have benefited from a three-year Sh3 million support deal from telco giant Safaricom in a programme aimed to equip emerging professional golfers with the skills, discipline, and exposure needed to thrive in competitive golf.
The four, namely Mohit Mediratta (Sigona), Mathew Wahome (Nyali), Samuel Njoroge (Kenya Railways), and Njoroge Kibugu (Muthaiga), form Safaricom’s Corporate Team, participating in both the Equator Tour events and other PGK-sanctioned tournaments this season.
The tour marks a significant milestone in the development of professional golf in Kenya, providing local players with a robust platform to showcase their talent and prepare for international competition.
