The proposed site for the Special Economic Zone is strategically located to facilitate regional trade and enhance economic growth where the lamu port is set to be the largest port in East Africa that will serve as a gateway to the African hinterland.

This was said by the newly appointed Chairman of the Kenya LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority, Ali Menza Mbogo during his just concluded Lamu tour where he had the opportunity to visit the proposed site for the Special Economic Zone, Lamu Port, and LAPSSET Plaza.

“This facility will create thousands of jobs and attract foreign investments, contributing significantly to the country’s economic development, “said Mbogo.

The Chairman who was accompanied in the tour by Regional Manager of Lapsset Salim Bunu and other officials pointed out that LAPSSET Plaza, on the other hand, will be a state-of-the-art business complex, providing modern office space, conference facilities, and commercial amenities and it will be a hub for businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs, further boosting the economic potential of the LAPSSET project.

“I am impressed by the progress made in the construction of these facilities, and I am confident that they will be completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. I commend the LAPSSET project team, contractors, and stakeholders for their dedication and hard work towards making this project a reality, “said Mbogo.

The Chairman said the LAPSSET project is a game-changer for Kenya’s economic development, and encouraged all Kenyans to support and embrace it.

“Let us work together to harness the enormous potential of this project for the benefit of our country and future generations, “noted Mbogo.

Earlier on the Chairman had the privilege of paying a courtesy call to the Governor of Lamu County, Hon. Issa Timamy in his office at Mokowe mainland.

Their discussions focused on the infrastructural developments related to the LAPSSET Corridor Development project, which is vital for the economic development of the region and the country at large.

During their meeting, the two held extensive talks on matters related to infrastructure, including the construction of the new port in Lamu, road networks, and the development of the resort cities in the region.

“I commend the Lamu County government for their unwavering support towards the implementation of this critical project, “said Mbogo.

He said the successful implementation of the LAPSSET project is a top priority for the national government, and that they value the partnership between county governments, other stakeholders, and ourselves in ensuring its success.

“We pledged to work closely with the Lamu County government to ensure the project is completed within the set timelines. I would like to emphasize that the LAPSSET project is a significant milestone in the economic development of our nation, and we are committed to ensuring its successful implementation. Our partnership with the Lamu County government is critical, and we appreciate their continued support. I look forward to continuing our partnership with the Lamu County government and other stakeholders towards the successful implementation of the LAPSSET project, “said the Chairman.
