When you first meet Eunice Waithira, her calm demeanor and radiant smile might give little away about the fierce competitor and enterprising woman beneath.
But spend a few minutes with her and it becomes clear that she is a woman driven by passion, whether in business, golf, or life itself.
Born in Langata, Nairobi, Waithira spent her childhood between Ngong and Kamwangi in Mang’u, an experience she says shaped her outlook on life.
From an early age, she learned the importance of hard work, adaptability and gratitude.
“Those environments grounded me. They taught me to stay humble and focused no matter where life takes me,” She says.
Her greatest inspiration, she shares, is Flora Mutahi, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Melvins Tea and the first entrepreneur in Kenya to venture into flavored teas.
“Flora’s courage to innovate and build something unique inspires me deeply. She reminds me that leadership is about vision and persistence, “said Waithira.
Away from work and the golf course, Waithira leads a fulfilling and balanced life by enjoying spending time at the gym, traveling to new destinations and serving in the music ministry at CITAM Valley Road, where she finds spiritual grounding.
Few people know that she once competed on her high school debate team, a period that, she says, shaped her ability to think critically and communicate effectively.
“I am often a quiet observer, but debate taught me the power of structure and persuasion,” she says.
Now a member of Nyahururu Golf Club, Waithira’s golfing journey began quite recently, in January 2025, when curiosity drew her to the sport.
She trained in February and received her playing handicap in March, and since then, she’s been hooked. “Golf gives me the perfect outdoor escape. It’s a chance to disconnect from work, breathe fresh air, and connect with nature.” However, there was another motivation as well: networking. Golf is the powerhouse of networking. As a businesswoman, I knew joining golf would expand my network and it truly has, “noted Waithira.
What keeps her captivated, she explains, is the game’s unpredictability.
“You can play a perfect shot one moment and completely miss the next. That constant challenge keeps you humble and motivated. One of her most memorable moments on the course came during a par-three round with friends. I hit what I thought was a terrible shot, it was heading straight for the water, but it bounced off a sprinkler head and rolled to within a foot of the pin. We laughed for ten minutes straight,” she recalls fondly.
Waithira describes her playing style as instinctive; she relies on her intuition rather than overthinking each move.
Yet golf, she says, has taught her invaluable lessons in discipline, patience, and leadership.
“Golf demands that you follow rules and etiquette even when no one’s watching. It teaches you to control your emotions, accept mistakes, and focus on improvement instead of frustration. Before tournaments, I ensure to time to warm up and ease into the game calmly. A relaxed start helps me play better,” explains Waithira.
Interestingly, Waithira has not faced major challenges as a woman golfer, but she acknowledges that others do.
“We need more initiatives that lower the barrier to entry for women. Affordable lessons and flexible membership structures would make the sport more inclusive, “said Waithira.

Beyond golf, Waithira is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Best Aroma Scents, a fast-growing business specializing in perfumes and body luxuries.
She founded the company during the COVID-19 pandemic, starting small but with big dreams.
“I began with perfumes and now we’ve expanded into all types of body luxuries sourced from the UK,” she says proudly. The customer reception has been amazing, “noted Waithira.
Her typical day involves handling client calls, overseeing operations and ensuring every order meets her standards.
“Even with employees, I stay hands-on. I like knowing things are running smoothly. To fit golf into my busy schedule, I plan carefully. If I have a full day ahead, I play early in the morning before work. It’s all about balance,” said Waithira.
Running a business for six years, Waithira says, has shaped her approach to golf.
“Entrepreneurship teaches you consistency, resilience, and patience, the same qualities golf demands. For her, success is measured not just by profits or trophies, but by balance and fulfillment. Professionally, it’s about achieving goals and completing challenging projects. Personally, it’s about having time for family, hobbies, and the things you love, “explains Waithira.
To young women striving to balance their careers with personal passions, Waithira offers practical advice.
“Set boundaries. Designate time for work and for your passions and do not overcommit. That is how you stay productive and fulfilled, “explained Waithira
She sees golf as a powerful platform for empowerment, especially for young girls.
“Golf builds confidence and resilience. It teaches you to believe in yourself, lessons that apply far beyond the course. Iam already helping to grow the game by encouraging my friends to join. I keep telling them about the benefits. Once they start, they never want to stop.
She said that at the moment her vision is to stay in the present, focusing on one shot at a time and not letting a previous mistake affect her next one.
