Coast golfer George Githinji registered an excellent 24 differential points to emerge the overall winner. Of the Nayli Captain’s (Dinesh Sasan) at Nyali golf and country club in Mombasa County over the weekend.

The handicap 13 Githinji had recorded 40 stable ford points on Saturday and added 64 nett on Sunday to claim the top spot in the tournament celebrating the end of a two years’ tenure in office of the club captain Dinesh Sasan.


“This has been a good weekend both on Saturday and Sunday with everything going on well as planned on the course to produce the best results after being down the whole of last season. My four ball team this weekend was also supportive in the course as we enjoyed every moment and I promise the heat is going to be on this year, “said Githinji.


The two days’ tournament brought together 215 golfers from the home club, Mombasa golf club, Malindi, Diani’s Diamond Leisure and others across the country.
It was jointly sponsored by Andy Golf Pro Shop, Unga wa Dola, Strike it Golf Limited, Kericho Gold, DK Real Estate Limited, Dala Dala and Friends of the Captain.


Mombasa golf club’s Henry Kamau playing off handicap 1 was the best gross winner recording a four over par 75 gross.
Hashiguchi Tetsuo was the men runners up on a 31 differential score after playing 39 points and 70 nett and taking the third slot was John Stokes who recorded 33 count back differential points from 36 points and 69 nett.

On the other hand, Mary Naneu who has been caddying for the last ten years before being supported by a Coast senior golfer Sal Davies to register as full membership of Mombasa golf club just some weeks back, gave a surprise to lady golfers by emerging the Lady winner.


Playing off handicap 13 Naneu carded an excellent 41 points to emerge to emerge the best lady golfer beating Lydia Kamau to the runners up slot by a single point.
Sunday nett winner’s prize on 66 nett was scooped by Tom Soigwa and Sam Muraya was the Saturday winner with 44 points.
Murtaza Saeed carded 36 points and 76 nett for a 40 differential points to win the best senior prize while Kunaal Khagram was the best junior after recording 38 points and 72 nett to bring home 34 differential points.


The guest winner on 36 differential points from 41 points and 77 nett was David Warui while Dominic Makau on 39 differential points from 38 points and 77 nett grabbed the best past captain’s prize.
Mombasa golf club’s captain Francis Muthamia played 38 points and 77 nett to emerge the best Coast captain on a 39 differential points.
Engineer Willis Ingari on 35 deferential points and Joan Kamami with 35 points emerged the high handicappers’ men and lady winners respectively.

Club captain Dinesh Sasan thanked golfers for attending in large numbers to make the tournament extremely successful and members of the club for their support in his two years’ tenure in office.
“I am really honored to have served you. Through your support and our sponsors, we have hosted many big tournaments in the past two years and this has extremely lifted the standard of the club. I urge you all to please continue to extend the same to the incoming captain expected in a few months,” said Sasan.


Club Chairman Njoroge Kamami who is expected to host his prize tournament next Saturday showered praises on his Captain thanking him for being dedicated during his tenure in office.


“I thank Sasan for serving this club and with more support from the members the club will continue to grow bigger, “said Kamami.
