ICEA LION King of the course is set to roar at the par-72 Machakos Golf Club Course in Machakos County on Saturday3rd,January, featuring estimated 160 players.
The players who returns to the greens after a brief festival holiday break, fully energized to conquer the course in the 18 holes’ day long stable ford tournament in the launch of the ICEA LION’s 2026 Golfing Calendar.
It will be the ICEA LION Group’s supported 10th edition of the Series that will officially usher in the “Road to the Vaal,” in South Africa signaling an exciting year of competitive Golf and regional excellence.
The tournament, fondly known as ‘The Christmas After Christmas,’ serves as the season’s much-anticipated year opener following a successful 2025 circuit that traversed multiple courses Nationwide and culminated in a grand finale at Nyali Golf & Country Club, Mombasa last October.
The Machakos leg is expected to attract players from Machakos and the wider Nairobi metropolitan area, setting the tone for a year defined by spirited competition, camaraderie, and exceptional golfing talent as they begin their journey along the Road to the Vaal, South Africa.
Machakos Golfer Julius Kioko who is the overall winner of the 2025 series will represent Kenya at the Lekoa Classic in South Africa, scheduled to take place from 20th to 21st March 2026.
He secured his spot by winning the grand finale of the 2025 series held at the Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa in October 2025 and emerged as the overall winner of winners in the competition, earning him the fully-sponsored trip to the Lekoa Classic at Heron Banks and Emfuleni Golf Courses along the Vaal River in South Africa.
ICEA LION King of the Course Captain Joe Mboya said the series continues its proud tradition of celebrating Kenya’s vibrant Golfing community while elevating competition across some of the Country’s most iconic courses.
“From the rolling hills of Machakos, through the lush fairways of Thika Greens and Ruiru, to the breathtaking landscapes at the foot of Mount Kenya in Nanyuki, and onward to the highlands of Kericho and Nandi Bears, the 2026 circuit promises an exciting and rewarding golfing journey for both players and spectators, “said Mboya.
He noted that the Kioko, the series 2025 overall winner is highly privileged to be escorted to South Africa by a contingent of over 15 Amateur Golfers from Machakos Golf Club who have already confirmed their participation.
Machakos Golf Club Captain Paul Kyengo has welcomed the players and expressed his appreciation of the long-standing partnership with ICEA LION.
“We are delighted to host the 10th edition of the series here in Machakos. We value our strong partnership and look forward to offering players a top of the range experience as we kick off the 2026 series, “said Kyengo.

According to the ICEA LION Series 2026 Calendar, after Machakos, action moves to Thika Greens Golf Resort (6th, February), Ruiru Sports Club (7th, February), Nanyuki Sports Club (7th, March), and Nandi
Bears Club (30th May), before culminating in a grand finale at Nyali Golf & Country Club, Mombasa in October 2026.
