The 8th Edition of ICEA LION King of the Course 2024 Golf Series heads to NANDI Bears Golf Club on Saturday which will be preceded by a curtain raiser Club night at Kericho Golf Club on Friday.
This event follows the resounding success of earlier legs in Machakos, Thika Greens, Ruiru and Nanyuki and marks a significant milestone in the King of the Course golf series reinforcing ICEA LION’s dedication to excellence and community engagement in the Rift Valley region.
A contingent of over 30 golfers from Machakos, Thika Greens, Ruiru and Nanyuki Golf Clubs will grace the two events in support of the series set against the highland area of Lush Green Rolling Hills at the edge of the Great Rift Valley.
ICEA LION King of the Course golf series Captain Joe Mboya said the series’ is committed to promoting Golfing talent in the Country and are proud to take the tourney to Nandi, a Club established in 1928 and lies at an altitude of 1,890 meters above sea level.
“In fact, the Grand Winner of the 2023 series participated in the prestigious 2024 Lekoa Classic in South Africa on 26th & 27th April 2024 which was a great success, showcasing the global opportunities afforded to competitors,” said Mboya.
Kericho Club Golf Captain, Ignatius Kiptoo stated, “Kericho Golf Club is delighted to host ICEA LION King of the Course Clubnite Series in the land of original tea and assured golfers that the course is in good shape and playing well.”
Nandi Bears Golf Captain, Isaac Kuto on his part stated that Preparations are in top gear to ensure a successful tournament at Nandi Bears this weekend.
“This is the fourth time Nandi Bears hosts the ICEALION King of the Course Golf series and we are proud to be associated with ICEALION in promoting the Golf Sport while bringing fun and opening up networks for the golfers. This edition promises an unparalleled golfing experience, featuring over 140 golfers drawn from all over the Country. The 9-hole course is in pristine condition with the fairways playing long and the greens holding thanks to the rains. There will be lots of food, Nyama Choma, Mursik, entertainment and we look forward to hosting you all, “said Kuto.
ICEALION Chief Executive Officer Philip Lopokoiyit shares his enthusiasm for the series as a key pillar of the company’s customer engagement and brand enhancement strategies.

After the Nandi Bears Leg, all roads will lead to Nyali Golf & Country Club in Mombasa on 26th October 2024 for the 2024 Grand Finale, when the top winner from each Club will battle it out for the annual Prize of a trip to participate in the Lekoa Classic 2025 golf tournament to be held at Parys Golf & Country Estate along the Vaal River in South Africa.
Elsewhere an estimated 180 golfers will be camping at the par 71 Sea link Mombasa Golf Course tomorrow Saturday for the Ken Gen Golf Tournament that starts at 7.32am with the flight team of Epapra Langat, A. Ngeno, Shem Aboge and G. Kisaka.
Club Captain Francis Muthamia confirmed the course is in good shape following the ongoing rains but cautioned golfers to be aware of the current strong winds blowing to the course from the nearby Indian Ocean.
