GOLF NEWS-Indiza bags Professional Title in Mulembe tourney at Kitale, Saisi wins the Amateurs prize and Barno was the Elite Amateur winner;

Mumias Golf Club ‘s based Professional Dismas Indiza continue proving his dominance after emerging the overall winner in the Professional category of the 2024 Mulembe Golf tournament played at the 18 holes par 73 Kitale Golf Course in Trans Nzoia County over the weekend.
Indiza recorded a combined total of 146 gross from a two days rounds of 74 and 72 grosses beating a team of some 16 Professional Golfers to bag the top prize money of Ksh.45,000.
“I have been training and was well prepared for this event and Iam happy and excited to be the winner. The weather has been good and the Course though challenging has also been playing well. I extend my sincere thanks to the organizers, the Club and my fellow golfers for the success of this tournament and we are now looking forward to many such events, “said Indiza.


The two days tournament was Organized by the Mulembe Golfing Society comprising the Western Community and aimed at further uniting all the Country’s Communities through the sport of Golf.

Golf Park’s resident Professional David Wakhu and Great Rift Valley’s Justus Madoya tied for the second slot each recording a total 148 gross and each received Ksh. 31,500 while Feix Khalakai of Kenya Railways sat fourth on a total of 150 gross.
Those who also got a slice  share from the Ksh.450,000 kitty of the prize money were the other top ten leaders and ties, Kopan Timbe (151 gross), A. Chelogoi (152gross), Frank Matilo (153gross), Robinsn Owiti (153gross), David Sakwa (155gross) Kvin Mabele (155gross) and Nelson Simwa (155gross).
In the Elite Amateurs categories who also received cash prizes, Elly Barno carded a total of 152 gross to emerge the Overall winner and bagged a cash prize of Ksh.25,000 while Wycliffe Kamanga and Nelson Koech tied for the runners up slot after each recorded 165 gross and were each awarded Khs.17,000.


Other top ten leaders and ties who also got a share of the prize money were John Michael (157gros), Sammy Mulama (157gross), Dickson Barasa (157gross), Henry Kamau (162gross), and Josphat Rono (162gross).
And in the Amateur category, the Overall Amateur winner was handicapping 26 Duke Saisi with a score of 70 points while handicap 16 Charles Yano on a countback score of 72 points was the runners up after tying on the same score with third placed handicap 24 Mathew Rotich and handicap 14 Evans Kirui was the gross winner on 86 grosses.
Dr. Richard Kiptum playing off handicap 13 brought 75 points to emerge the Men winner while handicap 22 Josephine Chesang on 76 points and handicap 28 Carlos Wakoli with 95 points were the Lady and Junior winners respectively.
Handicap 28 Lenard Waliaula was the best first nine winner on 35 points and David Kipsaita playing off handicap 28 took the same prize for the second nine after recording 74 points total in the two days.
Evans Kipyego and Terry Mwihaki emerge the longest Men and Lady winners respectively while handicap 28 Julius Mbiyu was the best effort winner on a score of 94 points.

Mulembe Golfing Society Chairman Eric Nyongesa and Captain George Eshuchi thanked Kitale Club for hosting the successful tourney and golfers for attending in large numbers saying that the event being hosted across the Country shall grow bigger and also continue supporting the Junior golfers.
