Winners secured place to join others in the Grand finale.

Kitale Golf Club hosted the twelfth leg of the 2023 NCBA Golf Series at the weekend, with the tournament attracting a turnout of 84 golfers who battled for the tournament’s top honors.
The golfers aimed to secure a chance to play at the tournament’s Grand Finale, with qualifiers emerging in the overall gross, men’s gross, women’s gross, juniors’ and men and women nett categories.
At the end of the play, it was home player Isaac Gitonga who emerged as the overall winner with an impressive score of 70 gross.
He fended off stiff competition from Phillip Shiharsy who secured the top spot in the Men’s Gross category with an impressive score of 72 gross.
Claiming the runner-up position in the men’s category was John Thuo who carded an equally impressive 78 gross.
Among the Ladies, Phyllis Kisuna emerged champion, having carded a round of 93 gross. She beat Josephine Chesang who managed 105 gross to claim the second spot.
The Nett Categories saw Edwin Chessum emerge as the winner among the Men with a score of 71 nett, while Josephine Njeri claimed the top spot among the women with a score of 75 nett.
In the juniors’ category, Shelby Bungei showcased immense talent and emerged as the winner with a remarkable score of 108 gross.
The Longest Drive challenge saw Aron Kitur and Faith Chemutai dazzle among the men and ladies, respectively, showcasing their power and accuracy off the tee.
At the same time, Ken Matonya displayed remarkable precision to claim victory in the Nearest to the Pin challenge.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, NCBA Bank Kilate Branch Manager, Gregory Florence said; “Part of the reason we hold this series is to meet with our customers and our clients. We have great interactions and discussions with them which go a long way in helping us understand how we can tailor solutions for them is certainly a highlight for us through this tournament. So, it is a tournament that we are very proud to be supporting.”
Following the Kitale event, the series will return on the 2nd of September for the thirteenth leg at the Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort.
