GOLF NEWS-JGF Celebrates Success of Kenyan Teams at All Africa Junior Golf Championship in South Africa;

The Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) is thrilled to announce the outstanding performance of the Kenyan Boys and Girls teams at the recent All Africa Junior Golf Championship held at the par 72 Benoni Country Club Course in South Africa.
According to a press released to the Media yesterday Monday,13th, May, from the JGF, it says that despite stiff competition, the Kenyan teams showcased remarkable skill and determination, securing impressive placements in the tournament.

The Girls’ team clinched the 2nd position, while the Boys’ team secured a commendable 4th place finish and their achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport.
Team coaches, John Liefland and John Wangai said the teams represented Kenya with pride and sportsmanship throughout the championship.
“Their exceptional performance reflects the unwavering support and guidance provided by JGF,” they said.
Leifland and Wangai pointed out that preparation played a crucial role in the success of the teams, as they underwent an intensive two-month training camp to hone their skills and enhance their competitive edge.


“The Foundation’s commitment to nurturing young talent and providing them with the necessary resources and opportunities has undoubtedly contributed to this remarkable achievement, “said the Coaches.

The team of Boys included Krish Beiju Shah (17 years)-Muthaiga Golf Club, Andrew Wahome (18 years)- Nyali Golf and Country Club, Junaid Manji (16 years)-Muthaiga Golf Club, and Kevin Anyien (18 years)-Golf Park, Golf Club.

The Girls team had Chanelle Wangari (17 years)-Vetlab Sports Club, Bianca Ngecu (15 years)-Muthaiga Golf Club and Audrey Gachora (14 years)-Muthaiga Golf Club.

JGF President Regina Gachora said they are incredibly proud of the Girls and Boys teams for their outstanding performance at the All-Africa Junior Golf Championship.
“Their dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship have truly exemplified the values of the Junior Golf Foundation. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the teams, coaches, and everyone involved in this remarkable achievement, “said Gachora.
She pointed out that the JGF continues to remain steadfast in its mission to cultivate a thriving golfing community in Kenya and empower young athletes to reach their full potential on and off the course.


“The success of the Kenyan teams at the All-Africa Junior Golf Championship serves as a source of inspiration for aspiring golfers across the nation, “noted Gachora.
This 17th edition of the tourney that ran from April 23rd to 26th2024, was a groundbreaking one for the African continent with a record number of 16 nations participated in the battle for Gold that attracted 15 Boys teams and 11 Girls sides from the Continent.
The South African Boys and Girls teams completed a successful title defense to qualify for the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup in Japan in June.


Team South Africa ended as leaders on 22 under par and recorded being the only Nation to finish under par.
The South African Girls side reeled in their eighth title in a row and remain unbeaten since the Girls Competition was added in 2017.
By virtue of their success, both South African sides have now gained an invite to the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup later in the year where they will test their games against the very best from around the globe.
