Joe Mboya and Ruth Mbeti emerged top in the men’s and ladies’ categories respectively as the NCBA Golf Series made its latest stop at the Machakos Golf Club that attracted over 100 players from the club’s golfing community over the weekend in Machakos County.
Playing off handicap 17, Joe Mboya carded an impressive 44 points to clinch the Overall winner’s title in the men’s category.
“It’s always a great feeling to come out on top, especially on your home course. The conditions were perfect and the NCBA Golf Series adds that extra competitive edge that makes you want to bring your A-game. I’m grateful to NCBA for creating this platform and I look forward to competing at the Grand Finale,” said Mboya.
He was closely followed by handicap 17 Ben Mumo with 42 points, while handicap 14 David Mwangtangi also posted 42 points to finish third on countback and Maruti Litali playing off handicap 20 rounded off the top four with a solid 41 points.
In the ladies’ category, Ruth Mbeti playing off handicap 33 claimed the Overall Lady winner’s prize with 40 points while handicap 33 Mercy Nderitu finished as Runner up on 35 points.
“I’ve been working hard on my game, and today it really came together. Winning here at home and being part of such a well-organized event is incredibly fulfilling. It was a really tough field today, there were so many good players. The course conditions were fair but definitely tested every part of my game, especially on the back nine. I had to stay very focused and I’m really happy with how I played and I’m excited to keep this momentum going in future events,” said Mbeti.
The tournament also saw exceptional performances in the nines challenge where Eng. Okemwa playing off handicap 32 secured the first nine winner’s prize with 25 points while handicap 46 Henry Chipinde matched that score on the back nine to take home the second nine winner accolade.

The NCBA Golf Series continues next weekend with action scheduled at Kakamega Sports Club maintaining momentum as players eye the coveted spots in the series Grand finale.
