Kakamega sports club golf members unanimously elect Ronald Omondi as the golf club captain for the calendar year 2025 while elsewhere in the country golfers’ set to resume action from next Saturday after the festive season holidays.
The golfers had taken a break in most golf clubs around the country after their club events and the conclusion of this year’s Kenya Golf Union (KGU) organized 28 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series that concluded with the Nyali Open Championship at Nyali golf and country club in Mombasa county on December 15th.
They will be hungry to flock Machakos country club course on Saturday, January,4th,2025 for the first year’s first event of the ICEA LION king of the course tournament series that normally kicks off at the country course before traversing across the country.
Kakamega Sports club member Ivan Opakas praised fellow members for the election of Omondi as the Club captain hoping that the club will now be more vibrant and full of activities.
“I know the new captain will move this club to the next level, bring in more tournaments, and recruit more members as I urge fellow members to accord him all the necessary support, “said Opakas.
Omondi who takes over from the outgoing club captain James Anzabwa will be deputized by James Mundia as vice-captain while the green keeper’s docket will be taken care of by Allan Muhanda and Derek Mukoya will be the handicap manager.
The incoming captain thanked each one of the club members for their confidence and support in electing him to this prestigious position.
“It is with great humility and gratitude that I stand before you today, having been entrusted with the honor of serving as the Golf Captain of Kakamega Sports Club for the year 2025. Being a part of this vibrant community of golfers has been a tremendous privilege, and I am excited to take on this new responsibility. I understand the immense trust you have placed in me, and I do not take it lightly and committed to upholding the traditions and values that have made Kakamega Sports Club a center of excellence and camaraderie, “said Omondi.
He pointed out that his focus will be on fostering a spirit of inclusivity, unity with fair play and ensuring that every member, regardless of experience or skill level, feels valued and inspired to participate in the club’s activities.
“Golf is not just a game. It’s an opportunity to build lasting friendships, push ourselves to new limits, and support each other in our mutual growth. We have many exciting opportunities ahead of us whether it’s enhancing the golf course, hosting more engaging tournaments, or expanding our community outreach programs, “noted Omondi.
He vowed to look forward to working closely with the club’s management, his fellow committee members, and all of the club team members to make 2025 a year of growth and success for Kakamega Sports Club.
Omondi expressed his gratitude to the past captains, noting that their leadership has laid the foundation for the success of the club and promised to serve all and help guide the club to even greater heights.
“Let’s make 2025 a year to remember and I will do my best and ensure that Kakamega Sports Club continues to thrive. Thank you once again for this honor, “said Omondi.
