Left handed Golfer Victor Simbi made good use of his swings to clinch double top prizes in the Marble Seaview and MMK Advocates April Mug and Medal Tournament played at the par 71 Sea-Link Mombasa Golf Club Course in Mombasa County on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 6, Simbi carded a brilliant level par 71 gross and 77 nett scores to emerge the gross and Division A winner respectively to carry home the April Mug.
“I made good use of my swings today, hitting against the wind and all went on well to bring these best scores. It’s also a good win for me this time proving that my game is improving but I shall continue engaging in more training at the range to also sharpen by putt, “said Simbi.
The 18 holes’ tournament jointly supported by Marble Seaview and MMK Advocates, saw handicap 8 John Orioro claim the Division A runners up spot on a countback 73 nett score after tying with third placed handicap 9 Club Chairman Lawrence Odhiambo.
Senior Johnson Wamunyua playing off handicap 17 dominated the B Division producing 73 nett while handicap 13 Mburu Mwangi with 74 nett and handicap 17 James Gitonga on 76 were second and third respectively.
The C Division was won by handicap 21 Symon Wambugu recording 67 nett with handicap 20 Ken Mwangi recording 69 nett for the runners up slot and handicap 20 Bernard Simiyu was content sitting third on 71 nett.
Handicap 34 Francis Kinyua swept the C Division prize after playing 80 nett and handicap 13 Charles Murimi brought 79 nett to win the Men Guest prize.

In the Ladies Medal, a Kenya Navy Lady Golfer Grace Kwamboka playing off handicap 17 claimed the top Division A prize on 71 nett and handicap 8 Mary Naneu sat second, displacing handicap 18 Mary Mariga to the third slot after both returned the same count back score of 78 nett.
Handicap 30 Susan Mwangi was the Division B winner on 68 nett while handicap 24 Gladys Kasi on 70 nett with handicap 33 Connie Achila’s 73 nett were the runners up and third placed respectively.
Gladys Haji playing off handicap 39 emerged the lone winner of Division C after recording 91 nett and Jedidah Keitany playing off handicap 20 closed the leaderboard list by claiming the Best Lady guest prize on 77 nett.

Paul Munyao of MMK’s Advocates appreciated the players for honoring to play the tournament in large numbers at the Sea-Link course and promised that the firm will continue with its support to uplift the standard of the Sport.
