The four-ball of Boaz Sugut, Erick Choge, Josephat Acharo and Edwin Serem returned a combined score of 117 points to emerge as the overall team winners at the penultimate leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour played at the Nandi Bears Golf Course in Nandi County on Saturday.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Boaz Sugut said, “I thank my four-ball for an amazing outing here at Nandi. The course is in good condition and our teamwork granted us the victory here today. We are embarking on rigorous training for the grand finale to be able to compete with the top guns on December 15.”
The runner-up team was David Sum, John Saina, Eileen Chepchumba and Sosteen Biwot who returned a combined score of 107 points.
Seasoned handicap 20 golfer Erick Choge carded an excellent score of 42 stable ford points to clinch the overall winner award beating over 100 golfers who graced the tourney.

The two teams join 14 other teams that have already secured their places in the Pro-Am grand finale event slated for December 15 at the lush Karen Country Club in Nairobi.
Edwin Serem playing off handicap 24 carded 42 stable ford points, beaten on countback by Choge to scoop the men winner award. On the other hand, Gorrety Mutai playing off handicap 22 was named the lady winner with 36 points.
Kimeli Mutai claimed the longest drive men award while Faith Chemutai clinched it in the women’s category. David Sum bagged the nearest to the pin award.
Handicap 18 golfer H. Khokoro plying his trade at the Kakamega golf course was named the guest winner after carding 35 stableford points.
The staff winner award was won by Aggrey Mulumbi beating his closest challenger Timothy Kuria who emerged second in the competition that was graced by KCB Group CEO Paul Russo.
On Sunday, KCB hosted a ladies’ and juniors’ clinic as the bank aims to expand the sport of golf and a tree planting initiative to bolster sustainability efforts through the series.
Meanwhile, Reports Maarufu Mohamed, Golfnewslinks, and Machakos Golf Club’s outgoing Club Captain Peter Kimatu won his own tournament played at the Club course on Saturday.
The handicap 16 Kimatu did not show any mercy to his over 180 golf colleagues carding a massive excellent score of 44 stable ford points to claim the trophy in the organized event to bid him farewell after serving as the Club Captain for the last twelve months.
“It’s really amazing today that I have won my own tournament which I can’t imagine. Anyway it has been a good day of golfing playing and meeting many friends of Captain Colleagues from various Clubs around the Country. I extend many thanks to all my Club Members for their support during my tenure and would like the same support be accorded to my incoming Captain to move our Club forward, “said Kimatu.
Bernard Mutua playing off handicap 16 was the member winner on a count back score of 39 points after tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 14 Jackson Mbaluku while handicap 15 Ben Mumo was third with 38 points.
The Lady winner was handicap 13 Catherine Wambui who brought a score of 36 points while handicap 19 Felista Mutinda on 29 points and handicap 23 Virginia Mutei with 28 points were the runners up and third placed respectively.
Taking the Guest title on 34 points was handicap 4 Margaret Njoki and Bill Kalya playing off handicap 10 brought 33 points to claim the runners up slot.
Cornelius Ndumai playing off handicap 31 claimed the High handicappers men prize with 37 points and the same for the lady was won by handicap 48 Jemima Samuel on 35 points.
The Caddies were not left out as handicap 25 Emmanuel Mwanza with 70 nett and handicap 45 Tecla Masanga who also had the same score were the men and lady winners of this category respectively.
School boys currently on holiday also enjoyed their part playing nine holes where Pacey Mutua won the 10 to 11 years age group after returning a score of 71 gross while Pauline Mbithe with 56 gross was the winner of the 14 years age group and Myles Mwendwa recorded a score of 54 gross to win the 12 to 13 years age group category.
Meanwhile over 220 Coast Golfers on Saturday got a rude shock of their lives and were disappointed after the much anticipated Stanbic Golf tourney scheduled to be played was canceled at the last minute following heavy down at the Coast.
Club Captain Dinesh Sasan in a letter to Members sent on Friday,17th,November stated,” We regret to inform you that due to the Continues EXTREME Wet Weather conditions, the STANBIC BANK tournament scheduled for TOMORROW Saturday the 18th November 2023 has been POSTPONED and rescheduled to a later date to be communicated. We thank you for your understanding.”
One of the Coast Golf Veteran Dan Mugambi said he has been training hard in preparation for the tourney but remains hopeful for the other coming events next slated for Saturday both at Nyali and Sea-Link Mombasa Course.
