Its celebrations as Karuga wins KGU Chairman’s prize at Vetlab, Kagicha takes lead at Railways and Musau teaches them a lesson at Machakos;

It was total excitements and celebration after Daniel karuga was declared the overall winner of the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) Chairman’s (Njani Nderitu) 2023 prize golf tournament that ended at VetLab sports club course on Saturday.

Karuga playing off handicap 19 carded a count back score of 42 stable ford points to be the crowned the overall leader of the day.
“My swings and putting today were precise after a long training and I would like to thank the sponsors, organizers and my playing partners for making this day full of fun and enjoyable and also very excited for the win, “said Karuga.
This was the culmination of a week-long series of events featuring Caddies, Amateurs and Professional where Karuga had tied with handicap 24 Fredrick Wagura who was the Men winner.
Kandadi Reddy playing off handicap 24 on 38 points and handicap 22 Henry D’souza with 38 points were the Men runners up and third placed winners respectively.


The Lady’s title was won by handicap 26 Grace Waiganjo on 37 points as handicap 26 Jane Wokabi brought 34 points to claim the runners up slot while Dorcas Mukabi was placed third on 33 points.
Handicap 17 David Ndung’u was the best KGU executive Chairman with 33 points and the Best past Chairman’s prize was won on 34 points by handicap 21 Lucas Maranga.
Friday men winner’s prize on 42 points was claimed by handicap 28 Mwangi Kariuki while the same for the Lady was claimed by handicap 25 Margaret Wairumu who had a score of 34 points and Samuel Njoroge was the best professional with 70 gross.

NCBA, Tononoka Group, Roamtech, Johnnie Walker, Madison Insurance, Unity Homes and Farmers Choice were jointly the sponsors of the event organized by KGU to celebrate the Union’s outgoing Chairman Njani Ndiritu.

KGU Vice Chairman and Tournament Director Philip Ochola said Ndiritu has been a dedicated member of the Union since 2016, starting as an executive and rising through the ranks to serve as the treasurer of the Union before being elected as the Chairman and also served as the chairman of the Golf Talent.
“We are thrilled to have hosted the Chairman’s Prize event to celebrate Mr. Njani Ndiritu’s contributions to the Kenya Golf Union which has been enormous. The event has been an exciting week of golf and camaraderie, and we are grateful to all participants and sponsors, “said Ochola.


Ndiritu thanked the members for according him tremendous support during his tenure and sponsors for making the event successful and urged them to accord the same for the incoming Chairman.
His term as KGU Chairman will end on May 26th, 2023, after the Union’s annual General meeting (AGM) that will be held at Muthaiga Golf Club.
Elsewhere handicap 23 Joseph Kagicha carded 40 points to emerge the overall winner of the 2023 KCB golf tournament played at the Kenya Railways Golf Club and James Karuga playing off handicap 12 won the Men winner on 37 points.

The lady’s title was won by handicap 22 Perpetual Wanjiru playing off on 30 points while handicap 27 Martin Njuguna took the Guest prize with 30 points too.
Handicap 12 Ibrahim Lande carded 30 points to win the Staff prize and handicap 8 Thacker Mitansh went home with the junior prize after carding 25 points.
The winning team prize was won by handicap 12 Ibrahim lande (30points), handicap 3 Fidelis Kimanzi (29points), handicap 25 Azu Ogola (23points) and handicap 9 Joseph Kagicha (40points).
The runners team were handicap 12 Yego Geoffrey (31points), handicap 9 Morgan Chirchir (28points), handicap 8 Kipyator Franklin (35points) and handicap 18 Cheboi Moses (28points).
Finally at Machakos Golf club course, handicap 20 Nicholas Musau had an excellent score of 45 points to emerge the overall winner of the 2023 Isuzu Golf tournament.
Handicap 24 Boniface Chuma was the runners up on a count back score of 41 points after tying on the same score with handicap 13 Julius Kioko who was third placed.
The Lady’s title was won by handicap 31 Alice Abere on 38 points grabbing the lead from her closest rival handicap 32 Milkah Wanjiru who missed the lead by a single slot.
Handicap 5 Alex Mutia was satisfied going home with the guest prize after carding 36 points and handicap 23 Benrad Nyangechi returned 35 points for the runners up slot.
High handicappers were not forgotten as handicap 34 D.K.Mulli completed on account back score of 39 points to claim the winning prize, tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 32 Felix Kiamba.
