GOLF NEWS-Kenya presents top Ladies team to the All-Africa Challenge 2024 Trophy (AACT)in Morocco;

Kenya ladies Golf Union (KLG) has presented top Ladies team to represent the Country in this year’s All- Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) golf tournament taking place from Wednesday, 27th to Sunday,30th, November 2024 at the prestigious Tazegzout Golf Club in Agadir, Morocco.
The tournament being attended by lady golfers from over 21 African is a biennial continental lady’s golf championship in Africa that had its inaugural edition in May 1992 organized by the Zimbabwe Golf Ladies’ Union at Chapman Golf Club in Harare, Zimbabwe and won by South Africa.
Each participating Country is represented by three players and a non-playing captain and the is using the Eisenhower scoring where the best two scores per round count towards the daily team score in the 54-hole stroke play format.

Representing Kenya in this esteemed event will be a formidable three ladies team consisting of Captain Naomi Wafula from Vipingo Baobab Ridge, alongside team members Mercy Nyanchama of Golf Park and Bianca Ngecu from Muthaiga two players namely Margaret Njoki of Golf Park and Ashley Awuor from Royal Nairobi will be the reserves.
They team will be under the management of the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Chairman Jane Babsa Nzibo who pointed out that they look forward to showcasing Kenya’s talent, determination, and sportsmanship during the tournament.
“I urged Kenyans to support and encourage the team who will undoubtedly bring success in this highly anticipated tournament. With a shared commitment to excellence, the players are dedicated to delivering exceptional results in the tournament, “said Nzibo.


Nzibo further said the team has been outfitted by local fashion brand Vivo, who has generously donated the golf attire for the final round and that this collaboration further underscores the team’s unity and spirit as they prepare to represent Kenya on the international stage.
Team Captain Wafula said they are well prepared for the task ahead and assured Kenyans that they will try to display all their best talents and skills to bring the trophy will be home.


“We are experienced in such international tournaments, have trained well and no nay Country will scare us anymore. We shall be focused in our game and definitely bring out our best,” said Wafula on behalf of the team.
Kenya has hosted the tournament twice in 1914 and 2014 both played at Muthaiga golf club in Nairobi and organized by the Kenya ladies Golf Union and both won by South Africa who has dominated the leadership.
According to the rules, the tournament in Morocco shall be played under the Rules of Golf as published by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and the local rules as published by the tournament committee.
All African countries are eligible to participate in the All-Africa Challenge Trophy 2024 and each nation will be represented by a single team of three players.
Each national federation is required to respect the eligibility conditions of its team and its players
Each player must be an Amateur golfer in accordance with the Rules of Amateur Status, be a member of the nation she represents or of a golf club in the country she represents, be included on the team list of your country.
In the Junior, they must be Under 19 years old on the first day of the tournament.
The Team Championship shall be 3 Individual Stroke Play / 54 holes / 18 holes per day and the 2 best gross scores achieved by the players of a team will constitute the team score for that round.
The total of the team score per round, for the three rounds will be the team score for the tournament.
The team with the lowest total score over the three rounds will be the winning team.
The Individual Championship shall be a Stroke Play / 54 holes / 18 holes per day / total of 3 rounds and the player with the lowest gross total score over the three rounds will be declared the champion.
While in the Junior Championship shall be a Stroke Play / 54 holes / 18 holes per day / total of 3 rounds and the junior player with the lowest gross total score over the three rounds will be declared the junior champion.
On the Team Championship, in the event of a tie for the AACT Trophy, the captain of each team that has tied, shall nominate one player to play-off hole by hole for a “sudden death”.
Ties for all other acknowledged team positions in the prize list shall be decided by a count back on the team score for the last 36, 18, 9, 6, 3, 1 hole.
The Individual and Junior Individual Championship, In the event of a tie for the Individual/Junior Champion title, a sudden death playoff will start.
In the event of tie for the runner up to these individual trophies, there will be a count back on the last 36, 18, 9, 6, 3, 1 hole.
The winning nation with the lowest gross scores will be declared the Champion of the All-Africa Challenge Trophy 2024.
The overall winner will receive a gold medal, the second-place winner a silver medal and the third-place winner a bronze medal.
For the Junior champion, If the winner of the Individual All Africa Championship qualifies for the Junior Trophy, then the qualifying player with the next lowest total gross score will receive the Junior Trophy.
