GOLF NEWS-Lady Caddy cum golfer Everline Kerubo pulls a surprise in World Tourism day tournament at Sea link Mombasa golf course.

Home club’s lady Caddy cum golfer Everline Kerubu pulled a surprise after carding 42 stableford points to emerge the overall winner of the 2025 World Tourism golf tournament at the par 71 Sea link Mombasa golf club course in Mombasa county on Saturday.
The handicap 16 Kerubo who had overcome a challenging day by caddying four hours in the morning and utilized another same hour to play in afternoon, beat a team of 76 players.

“What an incredible day. For a long time, I have known that to win at this level and to watch it all come together under this kind of pressure, is just something special. I couldn’t be prouder to have been the top winner. Winning a tournament like this isn’t just about hitting the right shots but about fighting through the bad breaks, staying patient and having an unwavering belief in yourself, especially when things aren’t going your way. It was fantastic day. It’s indeed an honor to be a small part of this game. Thank you for all for your support and for organizing this tournament, “said Kerubo.
The daylong 18 holes’ tournament hosted by the Kenya association of Women in Tourism (KAWT) in celebration of the united Nation World Tourism day was jointly supported by Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, KAWT, and the Mombasa Club.
Others included Serena Hotels, Villa Kempinski, Magical Kenya, Sarova Whitesands, Kenya Airways, Tourism Fund, ICEALION, Pure-Travel, Travellers Beach, Jambojet, Diani Sea, CAPARO, KPC, APDK, Tamarind, Hotel Saphire, and NCBA.
Handicap 13 Mburu Mwangi on 38 points was the Men winner as handicap 15 Epapra Lagat survived to claim the runners up slot after a tie on a same score of 37 points with third placed Dr. Johnson Muriuki.
Faith Muteti playing off handicap was the lady winner on a count back score of 36 points, also tying on the same with runners up place handicap 28 Constance Achila and taking the third slot with 33 points was handicap 22 Mesaidi Maarifa.
Diamond Leisure Golf Resort’s Lady captain Caroline Mokaya playing off handicap 12 recorded 37 points to win the KAWT prize with KAWT National Chairman handicap 26 Pauline Nduva emerging runners up on 32 points.
The Club’s Vice Lady Captain Gladys Kiprono playing off handicap 42 brought 39 points to win the Subsidiary Lady prize and the same for Men on 36 points was won by handicap 33 Francis Kinyua.
Handicap 20 Anne Cherop brought 39 points to win the guest prize while handicap 25 Peter Wambari on 31 points and handicap 17 Elijah Ibua with 26 points were runners up and the best senior respectively.
Club Captain George Mokaya appreciated all the players and the support from the joint Tourism Stake holders in making the tournament a great success.

My sincere thanks go to our fantastic green keeping staff. I think we can all agree that the course in superb condition to, a true testament to their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The Prize giving ceremony in the evening was presided over by the Tourism &Wildlife Principal Secretary S for Tourism John Ololtuaa on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, the Investment Promotion Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, the Mombasa County Executive Committee Member for Tourism, Culture and Trade Mohamed Osman Ali and several dignitaries from the Tourism stakeholders.
