Mombasa golf club will be the host of the East African Tea Trade Association (EATTA) golf tournament with an estimated 18o players teeing off at the par 71 Sea-Link course in Mombasa county on Saturday.
The golfers drawn from the host club, other Coast golf clubs and guests from across the country currently on holidays or engaged on business matters, are set to feature in the day long 18 holes stable for tournament also supported by Stanbic Bank, RTW Shipping & Logistics, Maersk, Chai Gold and Bags and Balers.
Club Captain George Mokaya said it’s an honor and great privilege to host the tournament with many exciting prizes line up for the winners and confirmed that the par 71 course is currently looking magnificent following the ongoing rains but may be challenging to the players.
“We’re particularly proud of the work that’s been done on the course this year, it will be an enjoyable test of your skills, soak in the atmosphere, support each other, and most importantly, have fun. We also hope you’ll appreciate the improvements as you play an I encourage everyone to embrace the spirit of competition while also enjoying the social aspect of our club. Let’s make the most of it and continue to build on the strong golfing community, “said Mokaya.
Among the golfers to watch fresh from the dust of last weekend’s Coast open ‘Barry’ tournament, will be the home club’s top player Henry Kamau expected to battle in the gross category with Nyali golf and Country club’s William Kaguta, Matin Ombura and club mate Feisal Lasker.
The stable ford side includes among others, the on form Patrick Muturi, Eliud Bett, Sam Muraya, Johnson Wamunyua, Ken Mwangi and Paul Koech.

The golfers are still expected to face the current challenging strong July Monsoon wings blowing from the nearby Indian Ocean to course that usually affect their swing drives.
And at the Machakos Country club course in Machakos county on the same day, some 200 golfers from the home club and around the country will compete for the top prizes in the ongoing KCB East Africa Golf Tour and also book their slots in the tour’s grand finale where top two teams will automatically qualify for the tour’s December 5th grand finale.
Club Captain Edwin Saluny said that it’s such an honor to host the Tour for the third year in a row and expect a huge turnout this Saturday for the tournament likely to be competitive and entertaining.
“I would like to tell the players that the course is in the absolute best condition. The greens are slow, and the fairways are wide enough though the course can be challenging,” noted Saluny.
KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting the sport across the region saying they are once again thrilled to have the tournament back.
“We are proud of the impact the KCB East Africa Golf Tour continues to have, not just in growing the game of golf, but also in creating connections and fostering community across the region. Machakos is a key stop for us, and we are excited to see the level of competition and camaraderie that this event brings,” she said.

The Machakos leg follows a competitive stretch in Nakuru where the standout players who earned qualification include Enock Ogembo, Eleanor Wambui, John Kibet, M.M. Macharia, Stephen Macharia, Micah Thuo, Javan Muriithi, and William Kariuki.
