GOLF NEWS-Njeru and Njeri Crowned new Babies after emerging Men and Lady Winners respectively in a Babies tourney at Machakos;

Francis Njeru and Lucy Njeri were crowned the Men and Lady Baby winners respectively in the 2024 February and March Babies Golf tournament played at the nine-hole Machakos Golf Club Course in Machakos County on Saturday.
Playing off handicap 11 Njeru returned an excellent 40 stable ford points to claim the Men title in the daylong 18 holes tournament that attracted 160 golfers.


“I played well today with my swings going the right way and it’s also a good victory to start the season but I will still undertake much more training in preparations for the forthcoming bigger tournaments, “said Njeru.
The tourney was organized and supported by the Club to celebrate Club Members born in the month of February and March.

Handicap 18 Jack Musomba claimed the runner up slot on a count back score of 35 points after tying on the same points with third placed handicap 24 Jones Nzao.
In the Ladies side, handicap 36 Lucy Njeri survived on a count back score of 30 points to take lead beating handicap 15 Nancy Kariuki to the runners up slot after both tied on the same score.


Bernard Nyagechi playing off handicap 17 was the guest winner with 39 points and handicap 12 Kiruba Mukuria brought 29 points to claim the runners up spot.
There was also prizes for handicap winners where handicap 43 Judith Kimeu carded 33 points to emerge the handicap lady winner for those with handicap 37 and above.
Justus Liku playing off handicap 43 was the handicap men winner on 36 points under those with handicap 29 and above.
Nimrode Mwangangi playing off handicap 24 with 21 points and handicap 41 Beatrice Kirathe on 20 points were the first and second nine winners respectively.

Elsewhere handicap 21 Mwangi Wahome recorded 69 nett to win the Men prize in the March monthly Mug tournament played at the Ruiru Sports Club course in Kiambu County in the same day.
Handicap 25 Stephen Kungu brought 70 nett to claim the runner up slot while Chris Andrea was the gross winner on 73 gross.
Wambui Rugu playing off handicap 24 carded 71 nett to win the Lady’s prize and the runners up slot was won by handicap 25 Veronica Mwaura who returned a score of 78 nett.
The junior prize was scooped by handicap 32 Faith Nyagaki on 74 nett and the handicap 17 Andrew Muriuki on a score of 76 nett claimed the guest prize.
Sammy Mwaura playing off handicap 32 went home with the Division two prize after returning with 74 nett while handicap 23 Patrick Kiogora on 32 nett and handicap 11 Dr.J.Mureithi with 35nett were the first and second nine winners respectively.
