GOLF NEWS-Nyali’s Daniel Nduva in a day three lead on Saturday with a 16 under in the ongoing PGA Tournament at Ruiru.

Nyali’s Daniel Nduva regains form by carding 16 under par total of 203 gross (66-69-68) to carry day three lead on Saturday during the ongoing PGA Equator Tour golf tournament being played at the par 73 Ruiru Sports Club.
Nduva, the day one leader is closely ahead of his closest rival Njoroge Kibugu of Muthaga who is behind by a single stroke difference going to the final rounds while David Wakhi follows on a total of 205 gross (70-67-68).
Kibugu had tied with Nduva to lead day two on Friday on 11 under and now the battle in fierce on the course.
“This is a battle of the Titans, not easy, but we are trying all our best and its only God who so far may be knowing the outcome, my fans back home in Mombasa, continue praying. Am doing my best and won’t disappoint, “said Nduva.
While the competition is tough and challenging and their hearts beat heavily yarning for overall Crown, it will be interesting to see Kibugu who was sitting tied fourth with Junaid Manji on a 4 under par 69 gross on the first day, came blazing in the second round forcing a tie with day one leader Daniel Nduva on 11 under par 135 gross each to share the top spot of day two.
Others who closed the day among the top ten are John Karichu (211 gross), Eric Ouko-68 (207 gross), Robinson Owiti (212 gross), Gaita Rodell (218 gross), Junaid Manji (217 gross), Riz Charania (214 gross) and Greg Snow 212 gross.
The four days -four rounds 72 strokes play tournament organized by the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) being sponsored by several corporates, is among the 11-month legs that will traverse twelve courses across the country where next action is scheduled to be staged Mt Kipipiri golf resort from 14th to 17th August 2025.
It will then move to other clubs before culminating in a grand finale scheduled for 5th to 8th February 2026 at Muthaiga Sports Club.
PGK Chairman C.J. Wangai said the tour marks a significant milestone in the development of professional golf in Kenya, providing local players with a robust platform to showcase their talent and prepare for international competition.
He pointed out that four professional golfers are now benefited from a three-year KShs.3 million support deal from Telco giant, Safaricom in a programme aimed to equip emerging professional golfers with the skills, discipline, and exposure needed to thrive in competitive golf.
The four namely Mohit Mediratta (Sigona), Mathew Wahome (Nyali), Samuel Njoroge (Kenya Railways) and Njoroge Kibugu (Muthaiga) forms Safaricom’s Corporate Team, participating in both the Equator Tour events and other PGK sanctioned tournaments this season.
“In addition to the support, Safaricom will further support the four professional golfers in the ongoing Equator Tour legs by providing branded golf kits (polo shirts, pants, golf bags, and caps), monthly airtime, a device and incentive cash prizes for winners in each series.The players will also benefit from financial literacy training, ensuring they are equipped with essential skills beyond the course, ‘said Wangai.
Safaricom PLC Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa said they believe in creating more opportunities for young Kenyans to realize their full potential both on and off the field.
“Through this partnership with PGK, we are investing in these four exceptional golfers and I wish them the very best as they embark on this journey that forms part of the PGK’s Player Development Plan (PDP). The plan is structured with mentorship and training programmes designed to equip emerging golfers with the skills, discipline and exposure needed to thrive locally and internationally in competitive golf, “said Ndegwa.
The launch of the PGK Player Development Plan and Equator Tour marks a new era in Kenyan golf, one grounded in vision, collaboration and the Olympic dream.
