GOLF NEWS-Over 215 golfers set for the Chairman (Kamami) and Friends tourney at Nyali;

Nyali golf and Country Club Chairman Njoroge Kamami and Friends will be hosting his Chairman & Friends golf tournament at the Club’s par 71 Course in Mombasa County on Saturday.

The daylong event has attracted an estimated 215 golfers from the home Club, Mombasa Sea front, Diamond Leisure Club, Vipingo Ridge Baobab, Malindi and others from across the Country with valid handicaps.


Kamami said preparation for the day is complete adding that the course is playing and in its pristine condition and that there will be a lot of fun with sterling prizes lined up in the evening for the winners.
“We are ready, all is set and this is going to be one of the biggest tournament judging by the large entries for the competition,”said Kamami.

The tourney starts off from 7am with the Chairman Njoroge Kamami who will be playing with Allan Molu , Kisaka.G and Mughal.S from the first tee while others at the tenth tee starts from 12.10pm with the team of Mariera I, Charles Odoo,Muzahura E, and Nalwoga .R.

A large field of at least 250 golfers will gather at VetLab Sports Club this Saturday, for the sixth leg of the 2023 NCBA Golf Series.
The event, coinciding with the club’s Centenary milestone celebrations, promises an exciting showcase of talent as top golfers compete for coveted slots in the Grand Finale, scheduled to take place later this year.

The winners of the overall gross, Men’s category, and Women’s category, will earn their place to compete in the highly anticipated Grand Finale.
The event follows the fifth leg of the series held last weekend at the Kakamega Sports Club where Cendric Konzolo, playing off handicap 5, defied all odds to emerge as the overall gross winner of the tournament with an impressive score of 78 gross.


Among the men, Victor Muhando, playing off handicap 11, secured the top spot with a score of 80 gross, while Lydia Okech, playing off handicap 20 was the star in the ladies’ category with 91 gross.
Speaking ahead of the VetLab event, NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed his anticipation and highlighted the special relationship between NCBA and VetLab, stating, “We are thrilled to be part of the NCBA Golf Series at VetLab Sports Club, especially during this momentous occasion as the club celebrates its centenary. On his part, VetLab Sports Club Captain Anik Patel said, “We are delighted to welcome NCBA Bank and golfers to VetLab for the sixth leg of the 2023 NCBA Golf Series. NCBA has for a long time now been one of our most important partners and therefore as we celebrate our centenary, we have spared no effort in preparing for this special event. Our course is in excellent condition and we are sure that it will offer a challenging yet enjoyable experience for all participants. With at least 250 golfers expected to grace our course, we anticipate a remarkable turnout and look forward to a great tournament as we celebrate our club’s historic achievement. The Veterinary Laboratory Sports Club, simply known as VetLab Sports Club, has been an esteemed golf club since its establishment in 1923 by Eric Tilley.
Initially comprising just 3 holes and a thatched Banda for a clubhouse, the club has evolved into a prominent golfing and recreational facility in Kenya.
With an 18-hole golf course featuring meticulously constructed greens utilizing a hybrid blend bent-grass suited to the local weather conditions, the club adheres to USPGA recommendations.
Notably, VetLab stands apart as the sole golf course in Kenya built on public land, ensuring that membership is accessible to all Kenyans in accordance with the club’s constitution.
The NCBA Golf Series aims to promote the sport of golf as a community development initiative throughout the East African region to foster a stronger connection between NCBA Bank and its customers.

This year’s edition comprises a total of 17 club qualifier events hosted at various prestigious golf clubs in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, showcasing the bank’s commitment to supporting sports and community development.
