-While regional Amateurs battle for top honors in the 2024 NCBA Uhuru Shield Tournament at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya.

An estimated 230 golfers have lined up in this year’s Stanbic Bank golf tournament to be played at the Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa County on Saturday.
The daylong 18 holes Stableford tournament sponsored by Stanbic Bank has attracted the golfers from the home club, Sea-Link Mombasa, Malindi, Kilifi’s Vipingo, Diani’s Diamond Leisure Resort, up country players, staffs and guests of the sponsors with valid handicaps.
Club chairman Kamami Njoroge will be the first to tee off from as early as 5.52 am alongside his four-ball team of Gabriel Gakuo, G. Kisaka and a Lady golfer Hilda Mugure while the last group will be that of a three-ball team of W. Owino, S. Kisevu and A. Maingi teeing off at 1:50 pm.
All the players who will be teeing off from the first tee spot will and they shall have a chance to try their luck in sinking a hole in one to walk home with a brand-new Toyota Harrier GR prize from Kushi Motors.
The Chairman Njoroge who is thrilled by the large turnout said the course is in perfect condition and promised that several events has been arranged for the golfers to enjoy both on and off the course.
Meanwhile, the 2024 NCBA Uhuru Shield tournament kicked off from Friday and will run to Sunday at the prestigious Royal Nairobi Golf Club course, in Nairobi, Kenya.
This is the 27th event in the NCBA Kenya Amateur Golf Championship and the second-last event for the year for the 2024 season.
Over 90 talented golfers drawn from across Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda will be taking part in this tournament as it promises fireworks looking at the field that has been drawn to play.
Local players to watch include Kiambu’s Michael Karanga who has already won the 2024 series after the last event in Kiambu two weeks ago, Sammy Mulama of Golf Park, John Lejrima of Kenya Railway Golf club, and Ebill Omollo from the Vet Lab Sports Club.
In the club championship, Golf Park, Golf Club are poised to defend the trophy that they first won last year since its inception.
