Rafael Leming’ani of Ruiru Sports Club was crowned champion of the NCBA Mt. Kenya Open Championship 2026after a composed and consistent three-round performance at the picturesque Nyeri Golf Club, set against the iconic backdrop of Mount Kenya over the weekend.
Leming’ani posted a total score of 214 (-2) following rounds of 72, 69, and 73 to secure victory in a tightly contested field that earned him Ksh. 82,400 in prize money.
Leming’ani expressed his appreciation to the sponsors and Nyeri Golf Club for hosting a well-organized championship, while also acknowledging the support of his club and the camaraderie among fellow competitors throughout the week.
He finished one stroke ahead of Jacques Byiringiro of Kigali Golf Resort & Villas, who carded 215 (-1) after rounds of 69, 73, and 73 and Amos Odongo of Golf Park Golf Club claimed third place with a total score of 220 (+4).

The absence of defending champion Elly Barno of Nandi Bears Club, who is representing Kenya at the Africa Amateur Championship in South Africa, further underscored the expanding international opportunities available to local players through the domestic competitive pathway.
