GOLF NEWS-Shem Aboge crowned winner of the Sunset Golfing Society tournament at Nyali.

Coast Golfer Shem Aboge was crowned the overall winner of this year’s Sunset Golfing Society Golf Tournament played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club course in Mombasa County on Saturday.
The handicap 24 Aboge returned an excellent 40 stable ford points to emerge the overall winner in the day long tournament featuring some 228 Golfers.
“It has been a good day playing with my flight and Iam really overjoyed to emerge the top. The course is in its pristine course, some good work from our green keepers and I take this opportunity to thank everyone for making this tournament a success and looking forward to more successes, “said Aboge.
Club Captain handicap 9 Omar Lewa who was the Sunset Men winner on 40 points while the Mombasa golf Club Chairman Lawrence Odhiambo playing off handicap 12 claimed the runners up spot on 39 count back score.
Handicap 26 Bill Ouko was third placed on a count back score of 37 points and Portash Oloo playing off handicap 31 carded 31points to claim the Sunset senior prize.
Elizabeth Akinyi playing off handicap 23 was the Sunset Lady winner on 39 points beating handicap 34 Constance Achila to the runners up slot by a single point difference.
Handicap 34 Craig Oyugi on 32 points and handicap 34 Kakir Kakkar with 38 points were the division 1 and 2 Sunset member winners respectively.

The Nyali men winner was handicap 22 Eliud Bett who had a count back score of 40 points and handicap 20 Dan Mugambi claimed the runners up slot on a count back score of 38 points after tying with third placed handicap 7 Charles Kariuki.

Mary Kandu playing off handicap 8  and who has been on past winning trend at the  Club was the Nyali lady winner on a count back score of 36 points tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 15 Terry Odoo.
The guest winner’s prize on 39 points was won by handicap 12 Naomi Kikulu of Mombasa Golf Club with 39 points and handicap 38 Imani Mugavana on 36 points was the Junior winner.
The Sunset Golfing Society (SGS) is a Kenyan Virtual Golf group founded in 1996 by golfers from Nyanza and is known for promoting Golf, networking and supporting education for underprivileged children.
