GOLF NEWS-Some 150 Junior Golfers in actin for the ongoing U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour series at Thika Sports;

One hundred and fifty (150) budding golfers are expected to take part in the fifth leg of the U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour which will be held this Sunday, 7th,May,2023 at the Thika Sports Club.

The Tour is jointly organized by the U.S. Kids Golf and the Junior Golf Foundation Kenya, and sponsored by NCBA Bank as part of its commitment to supporting junior golf development in the region.

The tournament will feature junior golfers aged between 5 and 18 years old who will get an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against their peers in an age-appropriate competition.

NCBA’s Group Director of Marketing and Communication Nelly Wainaina, expressed Bank’s commitment to supporting junior golf development.

“NCBA is proud to support these events as part of our continued commitment towards promoting the development of golf in the country. By giving these junior golfers a chance to play and compete at an early age, our aim is to help them to become better professionals and future stars of the sport in the country. We are looking forward to a successful event and wish our junior golfers the best of luck,” she said.

The event is an opportunity for junior golfers to qualify for U.S. Kids Golf international tournaments by earning points for Priority Status.

The junior golfers will also be looking to qualify for events such as Regional Invitational and the U.S Kids Golf Regional Championship to be held later on in the year.

The event dubbed the “Nairobi Local Tour” comes after the fourth leg held at Sigona Golf Club in April, 11th, 2023. 

From  Thika Sports, it moves to Karen Country Club, and Muthaiga will be the next spot for action.

The juniors in the tournaments earns points, awards, and Priority Status invitations to the World Championship and also advance from local tournaments to higher levels of competition at the international level.
