As curtains fall on the 11-month-long 2024 KCB East Africa Golf Tour, 260 golfers who competed across the region are expected to tee off in the tour’s grand finale at the Sigona Golf Club course in Nairobi on Friday,6th, December.
This will be marking an end to the series that reached 3000 participants and 1500 juniors through the golf clinics.
The club that produces the winning team at the grand finale will receive KShs.1 million cash reward for a sustainability initiative the club is currently undertaking and additionally, the ladies team winners will participate in next year’s Magical Kenya Ladies Open at Kenya’s Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi County.
Club Captain Sammy Mwiti said, “I am proud of KCB for their tremendous work in elevating golf in Kenya and the broader East African region. The second edition of the tour was crucial in giving a platform to budding enthusiasts to hone their skills and to enjoy themselves, further strengthening Kenya’s growing reputation as a hub for golfing excellence.”
He noted that tour has been instrumental in elevating the sport in Kenya and the broader East African region fostering talent, promoting inclusivity, and positioning the region as a hub for golfing excellence.
KCB Group Director Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gishuru said, “Our hefty investment in golf has largely been centered on our social conviction that we have a role to play in uplifting communities where we operate in line with our brand purpose For People. For Better. The 2024 edition has been greatly successful as we attained our aim of interacting with 3,000 juniors and 1,500 juniors.”
The tour traversed twenty counties in Kenya and four countries in the East African region namely Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The Kenyan edition saw events held in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Machakos, Kericho, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Nyeri, Nandi, Kisii, Laikipia, Trans Nzoia, Kilifi, and Kiambu Counties.
Unlike last year, in 2024, KCB hosted three caddies-only tournaments in Mombasa Golf Club, Nakuru, and Ruiru Sports Club, an initiative that was aimed at onboarding caddies, who play a huge role in the sport to also enjoy themselves.
Junior Golfer Ryan Tolgos, son of former Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Engineer Alex Tolgos, is one of the fast-rising golfers who made an impact on the KCB Golf Tour. He emerged as the overall winner of the Eldoret leg of the series after he carded 49 Stableford points.
Other names that made the mark this year include Amos Butit, Jackson Kiprono, Wesley Kiprono, Mike Rotich, Kipchirchir Kiprop, Nelson Orgut, Patrick, Kiprop, Geoffrey Kitiwa, Cedric Konzolo, Jack Songwa, Victor Muhando, Julius, Oketch, James Mundia, Kunal Chandaria, Maureen Mundia, and Ivan Opokas of Kakamega.
“KCB Golf Series has been a driving force in the development of the game in Kenya and the greater East African region. This series has allowed golf enthusiasts to hone their skills and enjoy themselves at the different amazing courses. We hope that come next year, the tour will give more players at the grassroots level an opportunity to learn the ropes of the game,” noted golfer James Muraguri.
The full-day event will see Radison Blu Hotel, Home 254, Famous Grouse among other notable brands come onboard as partners.
Additionally, the Bank partnered with Beulah City, a property firm, which has committed to giving an apartment (in the Ikhaya Beulah Genesis project) valued at KSh. 2.1 million as the hole-in-one prize for every leg of the 2024 tour.
KCB Bank footprint in sports support in the Country is expansive and cuts across various sports disciplines.

As part of environmental conservation efforts through the golf series, KCB planted over 1,000 trees across the various courses the tour traversed, underscoring the bank’s commitment to its sustainability agenda.
