The highly anticipated 3rd edition of the Golf Park Open is set to take place at the prestigious Golf Park Golf Club Course from Friday, April 12th to Sunday, April 14th, 2024.
This thrilling event promises three days of intense competition and camaraderie amongst some of the finest golfers in the region.
Despite an overwhelming initial sign-up of 100 golfers, the field has been trimmed to 78 participants in accordance with the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) standards, ensuring a fair and competitive environment on the 9-hole course.
Among the contenders vying for glory are five talented ladies Joyce Wanjiru, Nancy Wairimu, Margaret Njoki, Diana Mbuba, and Mercy Nyanchama, showcasing the growing diversity and inclusivity in the sport.
Additionally, representing Uganda are Dominic Musoke and Abdalla Kakooza, adding an International flavor to the competition.
Generously sponsored by NCBA Bank and the host, the Golf Park Golf Club, the event boasts an impressive prize kitty of Ksh. 500,000, which will be distributed among the top 20 golfers, adding an extra layer of excitement and incentive for participants.
Notable players to watch out for include Elvis Muigua, Adel Balala, John Lejirma, and the defending champion Sammy Mulama, each bringing their own unique skill set and competitive spirit to the tournament.
In addition to offering thrilling competition, the Golf Park Open holds significance beyond the individual accolades, as it counts towards both the Kenya Amateur Golf Ranking and the World Amateur Golf Ranking, providing players with an opportunity to enhance their standing on the global stage.
The event is expected to witness the culmination of talent, dedication, and sportsmanship in this unforgettable golfing spectacle.
The Golf Park is Kenya’s only Pay and Play golf course, providing residents of Nairobi with an affordable golfing experience on a first class playing surface and located in Off Ngong Road area of Nairobi County.
This is a beautiful course insige a horse racing tracks and the fairways are narrow and the rough can get very tricky especially during the rainy season when the rough get quite high.
The design is well thought out and the greens are well maintained but OBs are plenty so one have to be careful with the tee shots.
