Thirteen years old boy surprised an estimated 214 players including seniors and veterans by emerging the overall winner of the DHL Express golf tournament played at the par 71 Nyali golf and country club course in Mombasa county on Saturday.
The home club’s Chauhan junior playing off handicap 17 Chauhan junior carded a brilliant 40 stable ford points to clinch the day’s top overall prize in the 18 holes stable ford tournament.

DHL Express sponsored the tournament played under mixed weather of rains, on and off sunshine and cold weather brought golfers from the home club, all Coast golf clubs, others from across the country’s golf and clubs and Staffs with guests with valid handicap index.
Home clubs Charles Kariuki playing off handicap 5 was the Men gross winner after recording a six over par 77 gross count back and the same prize for the lady was claimed by Golf park club’s handicap 5 Margaret Njoki with a seven over par 78 gross count back.
Handicap 14 Justine Ongere emerged the men winner with 39 points, beating club mate handicap 25 Swaleh Omar to the runners up slot by a single point difference.

Caroline Munyi playing off handicap 24 commanded the ladies by winning the top Lady’s prize on 39 points and handicap 27 Janet Wasike brought 38 points to claim the runners up slot.
The best senior prize was won by handicap 22 Aaron Kikuvi who had a score of 38 points while handicap 10 Aydan Jamal carded 39 points to win the Junior prize.
Kenya Golf Union’s (KGU) Jonathan Marucha playing off handicap 14 was the guest winner with 36 points and Mombasa golf club’s John Mugo playing off handicap 26 carded 39 points to emerge the winner of the invited Coast Clubs.
Handicap 34 Dr. Omar Ramadhan on 40 points and handicap 37 Beatrice Minari with 36 points where the Men and Lady high handicap winners respectively.
Club Vice Chairman Michael Sangoro, flanked by the Club Captain Omar Lewa thanked DHL Express for coming to Nyali and the players for making the tournament successful and amazing despite the mixed weather,

DHL Express Managing Director Paul Makolosi who was accompanied by a large team of staffs said they are excited and thanked the Club and the golfers for making the day’s tournament glamorous and successful, promising to make a comeback.
Elsewhere, handicap 19 Peter Nuthu recorded 37 points to emerge the overall winner in the Swing and Wine tournament played at the Ruiru Sports club course in Kiambu county on the same day.
Patrick Kimanga playing off handicap 15 was the Men winner on a cunt back score of 35 points after tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 15 John Baptista.
The lady winner on 35 points was handicap 29 Beth Ngugi and handicap 35 Esther Kimani claimed the runners up a single point behind.
Handicap 35 Peris Mwangi went home with the Guest winner’s prize while handicap 39 Susan Gachina on 18 points and handicap 9 Wilson Mwangi with also 18 points were the Division two and junior winners respectively.
