The unbeatable Coast Senior Veteran Golfer Johnson Wamunyua proves his dominance for the Senior category after shining in the Legends Golf tournament played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club course in Mombasa County on Monday.
The Legendary Kikuyu Music Artist and former Mombasa Golf Club Chairman Wamunyua playing off handicap 13 who has been dominant in winning senior prizes on several past tournaments at both Nyali and Sea-Link courses, this time carded 36 points to emerge the Men winner in the 75 years old and over category.
“It has been an amazing day and winning in this category is such a great gift in this historical Madaraka holiday and a great moment for me. I thank all the organizers for coming with a successful tournament and hope we meet again in the forthcoming tournaments, “said Wamunyua.
He beat handicap 17 John Smith to the runners up slot by a two points difference in the tournament organized by the Club that featured Golfers from the home Club, others from all the Coast Golf Clubs and guests of the Club from upcountry clubs with valid handicap indexes.
The Club’s former green keeper handicap 19 Salim Tweshe was the senior winner for the under 75 plus years’ category after carding 38 points.
The men winner on the day’s best score of 49 points was handicap 14 Gitari Warui while handicap 24 George Gachanja on 43 points and handicap 16 G. Zoab with 42 points were the runners up and third placed respectively.

Truphena Oyaro playing off handicap 16 returned 40 points to claim the top lady’s prize as Rose Kinyanjui playing off handicap 28 took the runners up prize on 37 points, displacing handicap 25 Everlyne Akinyi to the third spot with a single point difference.
Handicap 6 School boy Aydan Jamal went home happy after scoring 36 points to win the Junior prize.
The high handicappers’ H/c 28+ Men winner on 33 points was handicap 29 Meshack Keter and the same prize for the lady was won by handicap 43 Winnie Chepchumba who had a score of 38 points.
