GOLF NEWS-Wahome and Team Basks in Glory at KCB Golf Series in Karen;

The four-ball of Philip Wahome, Mike Njogu, Zack Koech and Steve Lokonyo returned a combined score of 119 points to emerge as the overall team winners in the 12th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour played at Karen Country Club on Saturday.

They beat their closest challengers Evelyn Otsuyala, Koki Muia, Epimach Maritim, and Cyllus Onyango who returned 110 points to be crowned the second-best team at the tourney that was graced by 240 golfers.


“We had a formidable four-ball today. We knew the competition would be tough considering the names that had registered for this tournament but we came prepared to win. Our first and second nines were excellent and we ensured to keep everyone in check since we played our golf in the morning. We will continue working together as we prepare for the grand finale,” expressed an ecstatic Wahome.

Hard-hitting Kyalo Nzioki returned an impressive 44 stable ford points to be named the overall winner after countback at the luscious 18-hole golf course, beating Cyllus Onyango who also returned 44 points to win the man winner award after countback.
The two top teams join other teams from Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Mombasa, Nyeri, Kericho, Kakamega, Mombasa, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Kiambu and Burundi that have booked their places in the tour’s grand finale slated for December 6, 2024.

Wairimu Maina, a seasoned golfer, returned 40 stable ford points to claim the lady winner award in the highly competitive category while Ryan Ndegwa won the Junior category with 39 points after countback.
Peter Ndichu bagged the staff winner award with 39 points, Millicent Mello was the staff runner-up with 37 points and Pettie Ndolo clinched the longest drive award in the ladies’ category while Lesaan Shani scooped it in the men’s category.
The tourney, which has reached over 1,500 participants so far, is set to grace Nyanza Golf Club for its 13th leg on August 17, 2024.
