GOLF NEWS-Youngster Victor Sila Wins KCB Golf Series in Nakuru;

Handicap 28 golfer Victor Sila returned an excellent score of 43 stable ford points to emerge as the overall winner of the eight legs of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the PAR 73 Nakuru Golf Course on Saturday.
“We challenged each other in our four-ball to play well, I can say the first nine was incredible, a few birdies and bogeys. In the second nine, we also did very well and I can only thank my team for the good challenge. My appreciation also goes to KCB for putting together this incredible tournament,” noted an ecstatic Sila at the prize-giving ceremony.


Sila beat his closest challenger Joseph Mwangi, handicap 28, who carded 40 points to be crowned the overall man winner at the event that was graced by over 250 golfers, the largest number to compete at the 18-hole course this year.


Margaret Mutwasi, playing off handicap 29 floored all her opponents in the highly competitive showpiece to be named the lady winner of the day after returning 39 stable ford points.


Eliud Siganga on the other hand, a seasoned Golfer and KCB Bungoma Branch Manager carded 41 points to clinch the staff prize award and handicap 18 golfer Gurtej Sahota emerged as the junior winner of the day with 36 points.
Martin Mbugua who plays off handicap 24 bagged the guest winner prize after returning 40 points as John Kamais scooped the longest drive award in the men category while Mercy Nyanchama claimed it in the women category and Patrick Mbagaya won the nearest to the pin award.
Activities continue at the lush course on Sunday as Juniors converge for a Golf clinic before the afternoon’s tree planting exercise even as KCB embed sustainability at the heart of the golf series.
On Monday, a Caddie tournament will be held at the same venue, the second one held by KCB this year.
Club Captain Barnabas Kemboi thanked KCB in bringing the event to the club for the second year running and noted that the tournament has gone a long way in building a critical pool of talent in the Country and across the Region.
The tour will now head to Limuru next month of June for its ninth leg as Golfers continue to battle for spots in the tournament’s grand finale slated for December 6th in Nairobi.
Nakuru qualifiers now joins colleagues from Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Nandi, Kakamega, Mombasa, Nyeri, and Nairobi in the tournament’s grand finale where a total of 32 players have currently booked their place at the December’s event.
To further strengthen the competition, KCB partnered with Beulah City Ltd, a property firm, who have committed to give an apartment (in the Ikhaya Beulah Genesis project) valued at Sh.2.1 million as the hole in one prize for every leg of the 2024 tour.
KCB Bank footprint in sports support in the Country is expansive and cuts across various sports disciplines.
The Bank has its Sports brand assets that include the KCB Women Volleyball Club, KCB Football Club and KCB Rugby Club besides other sports including Chess, Athletics, and Golf.
The long-standing tradition of sponsoring major Sporting events in the Country has seen the Bank pump millions of shillings in sponsorships over the years.

ADDS MAARUFU MOHAMED-GOLFNEWSLINKS,Elsewhere, at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club Course in Mombasa on the same day, Coast Veteran Golfer Gurbux Singh partnered with his Wife Navinder Kaur to teach their colleagues a lesson by winning the Moyne 2024 mixed foursomes’ trophy.

The Duo carded an excellent combined score of 40 stable ford points to claim the overall Team title in the day long 18 holes stable ford tournament graced by over 50 partners and organized by the Club.
Joseph Oluoch and Glady’s Mweni with a combined score of 36 points were the runners up and Qambar Somji on 39 points emerged the Subsidiary winner.
