National Sevens Circuit heads to Embu this weekend as KBL’s Tusker brand announces Ksh. 3 million sponsorships.
Following the successful third leg of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, the Christie Sevens this past weekend, attention now shifts to Embu for the fourth leg of the circuit ‘The Embu Sevens’ scheduled for Saturday, 23rd, and Sunday 24th, at the Njukiri Showground.
The tournament has received a major boost after Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), through its flagship brand Tusker announced a Ksh. 3 million sponsorship package.
From this, Embu Rugby Football Club, the tournament hosts will receive Ksh. 1.5 million in cash to support logistical operations while the remaining amount will go toward enhancing fan experience and entertainment including the Tusker Village and official after party.
KBL Head of Mainstream Beer Christine Kariuki said, “We are proud to extend our support to the Embu Sevens, which is a new stop in the National Sevens Circuit. Tusker’s partnership is about celebrating rugby culture across the country and giving fans an unforgettable experience both on and off the pitch. This is part of KBL’s broader commitment to support sports and sportsmen in Kenya, a commitment deeply rooted in our brand values of unity, celebration, and nurturing local talent. After the success of Driftwood, Prinsloo and Christie, we are excited to now head to Embu and continue this journey.”
On his part, Embu Sevens Deputy Tournament Director Norman Mutai welcomed the sponsorship, noting its importance for both the tournament and the region.
“This support from Tusker is a big boost for us as hosts. It allows us to put together a well-organized tournament, welcome teams and fans from across the country, and showcase Embu as a proud rugby destination. Preparations are on track, and we are confident of delivering two days of the ultimate rugby experiences at Njukiri Showground, “said Mutai.
At Christie Sevens, KCB Rugby were crowned champions after defeating Menengai Oilers 17-5 in the final played at the RFUEA Grounds on Sunday.
The victory handed KCB their eighth Christie 7s title and their second trophy of the 2025 season, cementing their position at the top of the standings.
KCB will now look to extend their lead when they take to the pitch in Embu while teams such as Strathmore Leos and Menengai Oilers will be aiming to close the gap and keep the title race alive.
The National Sevens Circuit will continue after Embu with the Kabeberi Sevens and the Dala Sevens, where the overall winner of the 2025 series will be crowned.
