KCB RFC delivered a statement performance at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka in Nairobi, crushing the Leos in a commanding 72-14 victory during the third round of the 2025/2026 Kenya Cup season.
Captain Felix Ojoo opened the floodgates early, grounding the first try after sustained pressure inside the Leos 22 while Brian Wahinya made no mistake with the conversion, putting the hosts 7-0 up. Moments later, winger Michael Wekesa lit up Ruaraka with a blistering run down the flank to score KCB’s second. Wahinya’s boot stretched the lead to 14-0.
Wekesa was not done yet when a crafty move from Wahinya sliced open the Leos’ defense, setting up Wekesa for his second try and extending the margin to 19-0.
Despite a brief setback when Andy Cole was sent to the sin bin after a scuffle, KCB never took their foot off the pedal.
A sweeping play to the right found Biko Branton, who sprinted home after a crisp pass from Vincent Onyala for a 26-0 advantage. Onyala, captain fantastic, then added his name to the scoresheet with another powerful finish, Wahinya converting for 33-0.
The tries kept coming as Elvis Namusasi, George Ooro, and more clinical kicking from Wahinya pushed the tally to 47-0 before Leos pulled one back just before the break as halftime scores stood at KCB 47-7 Leos.
In the second half, the Bankers resumed punishment with Ojoo bagging his second try for 52-7 as Branton added another before KCB crossed again to make it 62-7.
Wahinya then turned scorer, producing a dazzling solo run that electrified the home crowd. Leos found a consolation try, but the day belonged fully to KCB, who sealed the match with another try to close at a spectacular 72-14.
After the match, Head Coach Andrew Amonde praised his team’s character and hunger saying, “This win reflects the work the boys have been putting in. We were clinical, disciplined, and hungry from start to finish. Our focus now is consistency because the Kenya Cup is a long season, and we want to keep raising our standards every weekend.”
