The Mozilla Africa Mradi and The Eliud Kipchoge Foundation will collaborate with the renowned marathon runner to promote a culture of reading among Kenyan youth through Pocket.
This is aligned with The Eliud Kipchoge Foundation’s mission to promote access to education in underprivileged communities.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Eliud Kipchoge, EGH noted, “The Eliud Kipchoge Foundation works in the areas of health, environment and education. We have set-up a library in Nandi County where we have equipped books that our local youths can access. Pocket will be very useful to our local youths in Nandi as they can come and access the internet at the library, download educational materials and access this information when they go back home where they have no internet access”.
Pocket, previously known as Read It Later is Mozilla’s social bookmarking service for storing, sharing and discovering web bookmarks.

The tool provides offline access to curated and personalized learning materials and this will be useful in areas with limited internet access and in promoting access to educational materials for our youths.
Lindsey O’Brien, Chief Marketing Officer, Mozilla Corporation noted that, “Mozilla is keen to identify and work with individuals whose values resonate with ours and is always forming partnerships to advance mutually beneficial programmes that support the needs of communities; Mozilla’s partnership with the Kipchoge Foundation is definitely one that resonates with the Mozilla values.

Meanwhile, KCB RFC is gearing up for the National Sevens Circuit that kicks off this weekend at the Dala Sevens in Kisumu County.

The bankers, who are the most successful club in the competition, have been paired alongside Mombasa RFC, Kenya Harlequins, and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).
They have been handed a massive boost following the return of Vincent Onyala who has been out due to injury, Geoffrey Okwach and the recent acquisitions of youngsters Elvis Namusasi, Lionel Ajeliti, William Opaka and Austine Sikutwa.
The 13-member travelling squad team will be coached by Former Shujaa Captain Andrew Amonde who recently led them to glory at the Great Rift Tens Rugby Tournament in Nakuru.

Speaking during a training session at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka, the outspoken coach said, “The preparations for this competition have been going on very well and I can confidently say that the team is ready to compete against some of the biggest sides in the country. We have squad-depth that is unmatched which has given us a difficult time in picking the 13 players who will be representing KCB in the much-anticipated outing.”
Backs Coach Mariko Mshilla who was part of the team that won KCB’s first ever Sevens Circuit in 2004 will be part of the Technical Bench together with Mike Shamiah, Philip Wamae, Denis ‘Ironman’ Mwanja, and Brian Omondi.

“It is a marathon not a sprint because it does not matter the leg you win; you must keep winning to clinch the overall title. We have our eyes set on winning the opening leg to make a statement right from the onset,” reckoned Mshilla.
Last year, KCB won the opening leg of the tournament at the Kabeberi Sevens and finished second overall behind Menengai Oilers.
