GOLF NEWS-Joyce and King’ori celebrates victory after bagging gross titles at Nyali Course;

German based Kenyan Lady Golfer Joyce Masai and Jimmy King’ori emerged gross medal and Mug winners in the 2024 June Mug and Medal Golf Tourney played at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club Course in Mombasa County on Saturday.
The handicap 9 Masai recorded a score of 81 gross to win the gross title in the Medal category while handicap 8 King’ori brought 82 gross to grab the top gross prize for the Mug division.

“I played a good game today with an amazing weather but I shall continue with training to improve my game and look forward for the forthcoming tournaments,” said King’ori.
“This is a brilliant gift adding to my continued enjoyment of my holidays here at home over the past few months. I still have more tournaments to play before I fly back to Germany,” said Masai who was also the former Lady Captain of the Club.

The tournament organized by the Club that attracted 139 players saw Junior Golfer handicap 12 Fidel Wasike card 71 nett to win the A Division while handicap 10 Omar Lewa on a count back score of 73 nett was the runners up beating handicap 10 Martin Ombura to the third slot after both recorded the same score.
The B Division was won by handicap 17 Sanjay Kotecha on 71 nett Count back after tying with runners up placed handicap 16 Junior Aydan Jamal and handicap 17 Ian Marshall was third with 73 nett.
Handicap 22 Jatin Malde survived on a count back score of 69 nett to claim the C division beating handicap 22 Mohamed Jezan to the runners up slot on the same score and handicap 25 David Ngunjiru brought 70 nett to sit third.
The D division on 60 nett was won by handicap 46 Junior Austin Ogola and handicap 40 Junior David Kaguru with 65 nett emerged runners up.


The Best Male Caddy with 73 nett and the Guest winner with the same score were handicap 7 Kalamu Choyo and handicap 25 Japie Vanniekerk respectively.
Rose Nalika playing off handicap 15 carded a count back score of 72 nett to win the Medal Category in Division A after tying on the same score with runners placed handicap 9 Joyce Masai and handicap 20 Florence Karimi was third on a score of 74 nett.

The B division was won by handicap 21 Zaituni Mohamed on 68 nett while handicap 30 Caroline Munyi with 72 nett and handicap 28 Hellen Wanjiru on 73 nett were the runners up and third placed respectively.
Wanjiku Munene playing off handicap 40 was the lone winner on Division C on 72 nett and handicap 29 Saina Odhiambo carded 70 nett to win the Best Caddy prize while Joyce Masai emerged again as the best putter of the day with 28 putts.
Elsewhere at the Par 72 Machakos Country Club Course in Machakos County, handicap 16 Bernard Mutua carded 42 points to emerge the overall winner of the KenGen Golf tournament played on the same day.

Handicap 14 Nderitu Macharia won the runners up slot on 39 points and taking the third slot with 37 points was handicap 19 John Masai.
Nancy Kariuki playing off handicap 12 scooped the Ladies title on a count back score of 30 points beating handicap 27 Alice Abere to the runners up slot on the same score.
The Staff prize was won by handicap 23 Victor Atwa and handicap 22 Moses Mavoko carded 36 points to win the Guest prize.
