His victory came after sinking a single rare birdie at the par three-sixteenth hole with additional levelling of four pars and a mixed pot of bogey shots in both nines to beat a team of 150 golfers in the day long 18 holes tourney.

“I must say it was my day and I am really elated with my golf performance today and appearing on the Leaderboard as the overall winner. It is my first ever win registered in such a major tournament in the short period of golfing, just imagine the feeling. But I attribute this to sponsorship by my favorite Tea drink brand. Many thanks go to my four ball partners Peter Wambari, Carol Munyi and Timothy Mbugua, though he finished after the first nine, without giving explanation. I must say, today’s course was playing well and thanks to the Hon. Green Keeper Fidel Odumo and the Green Keeping team. I got to the greens on regulation but on the first nine my putting was not that good and three putts on three holes 2,3 and 9, scratching on hole No. 7. Being followed by a four ball on match play during second nine accorded me ample time to follow through my golf shorts and more specific putting in avoiding three putting which I registered during first nine, “said Koech.
