Malindi Country Golf Club’s Joseph Sulubu came and played out all his hearts to emerge the overall 2024 Caddy Champion during the National Caddies finals golf tournament played at the Diani’s par 72 Diamond Leisure Golf Resort course in Kwale County on Monday.
Sulubu rounded up the 18 holes tournament on an excellent 2 over par 74 gross to emerge the overall winner beating a team over 120 Caddy golfers.
“The course is challenging but I managed to play well. Iam today filled with a lot happiness for this victory. And this has also put my Club Malindi on top, “said Sulubu.
This tournament sponsored by NCBA group PLC, Kenya Golf Union and Crown paints Kenya Plc, was a culmination of several Caddies’ golf events held around the Country and at various golf courses.
They are namely Nyeri, Kenya Railways, Great Rift Valley, Kenya Airforce Golf club, Limuru, Nyali, Migaa and host Diani’s Diamond Leisure Golf Resort in Kwale County.
Nyali Golf and Country Club’s Kalamu Choyo was the runners up playing a 7 over 79 gross and taking the third slot was home club’s Ali Nwasipo on 81 gross.
The Men’s winner was Mombasa Golf Club’s Kelvin Nyongesa on 66 nett while home club’s Eric Simiyu with 67 nett and Club Mate Joshua Ayieta on 69 nett were the runners up and third placed respectively.
Mary Naneo was the gross lady winner after producing 84 gross with Nyali’s Naomi Kikulu taking the second spot on 90 gross and club mate Janet Auma brought 91 gross to sit third.
The Lady nett winner on 69 nett was Nancy Waliaula while Nyali’s Christine Isenya on 71 nett and home Club’s Violet Nambuye with 72 nett were second and third respectively.
Ben Multi from Nyali went home with the Senior prize after carding 77 nett as Mombasa Golf Club’s Josephine Katuku recorded 65 nett to claim the Subsidiary winner’s prize and Teresia Githua from Migaa golf club brought 72 nett to emerge the runners up.
The caddies National Chairman Patrick Kariuki thanked all the Caddies for attending in large numbers and called upon them Countrywide to embrace peace, join or register new self-help groups at Club levels, start playing golf seriously so as to increase the existing numbers of membership.
“I will be engaging all Club Captains through Kenya Golf Union to harmonize the Caddie fees Country wide to make it easy for them engage on golf matters and support.
