GOLF NEWS-Joshua Matei claims victory in the KCB tour series at the Touristic Malindi course;

Joshua Matei carded an excellent 42 Stableford points to emerge the overall winner at the KCB tour Series golf tournament played at the par 70 Malindi Golf and Country Club course in Kilifi County on Saturday.
The handicap 26 Matei team of 180 golfers from the Coast region golf clubs and beyond in the day long Stableford tournament sponsored KCB Bank in the ongoing series.


“It has a good day playing with my three-ball team and Iam so proud to be the overall winner. The day was also good with lots of fun that cooled the strong winds blowing from the nearby Indian Ocean waters and I hope this victory will encourage me to play better in coming days,” said Matei.


The Men winner on 40 points was handicap 26 Tom Kioko beating handicap 17 Ali Abdallah to the runners up slot by a single point difference.

Maria Giada playing off handicap 33 was the lady winner after recording an excellent score of 40 points and handicap 36 Francesca Biancacci brought 34 points to claim the runners up slot.

Mombasa golf club’s handicap 23 Wilfred Achila won the guest prize also on a good score of 42 points and Zachary Okoth playing off handicap 36 was the staff winner with 25 points.
Handicap 11 Francis Dau and handicap 21 Silvana Franciolli were the longest man and lady winners respectively.
And elsewhere, James Njogo playing off handicap 22 carded 42 points to emerge the overall winner of the Lady Captain’s (Magdalene Mbugua) 2024 prize golf tournament played at the Thika Green Golf Resort course in Kiambu County also on Saturday.
Handicap 5 Wesley Kibet was the gross winner on a count back score of 81 gross after tying on the same score with second placed handicap 10 Gakuo Macharia while handicap 13 Benta Khanili was third on 82 gross.

James Kamiri playing off handicap 25 was the Man winner on 41 points and handicap 24 Merciline Onywoki brought 38 points to emerge the Lady winner.
Handicap 17 George Wamai on 38 points and handicap 18 Jackline Sirai with 34 points were the Member Man and lady winners respectively while handicap 22 Benson Njogo brought 39 points to walk away with the best guest prize.
Dedan Munge playing off handicap 29 who carded 45 points and handicap 43 Nirmla Devi on 38 points were the subsidiary Man and lady winners respectively while Francis Muraya emerged the best dressed man and handicap 35 Rebeccah Ndega managed only 9 points and was awarded with best effort prize.
The tournament supported by several corporates and friends of the lady captain was to bid her farewell after serving her one-year term.
