GOLF NEWS-Coast youngster Aydan Jamal and Junior Golf Coach Mary Kandu wins gross prizes in Mug and Medal tournaments at Nyali.

-Club Chairman Jayne Githere and Captain Omar Lewa urge players to register in large numbers for the upcoming ‘Inaugural Mombasa Chamber of Commerce’ Golf tournament themed ‘Growing your business together’ scheduled at the Club course on Saturday, April,12th.

Coast youngster Aydan Jamal and Junior Golf Coach Mary Kandu swept the gross prizes for the Mug and Medal respectively at the par 71 Nyali golf and Country Club course in Mombasa County on Saturday.


The handicap 10 Jamal was declared the best gross winner of the day after carding an 83 gross in the March Mug while handicap 10 Kandu played 79 gross to carry the March Medal.

“If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best and I’m so excited today to have beaten the seniors in this wonderful tournament. School has closed and I will continue with my practice at the moment and hope for more prizes before we return back to school. I would also like to thank today’s organizers and my team flight whom we had an enjoyable time at the course, “said Jamal.
The Club’s former Captain Vishnu Dhutia playing off handicap 12 was the Division A winner on 72 nett and again Aydan Jamal bagged another prize for being the runners up with 73 nett and handicap 8 Yobesh Oyaro claimed the third slot after recording 78 nett.


There was a stiff challenge on Division B after handicap 15 Ian Marshall brought a two way count back score of 73 nett, tying with second placed handicap 16 Dhanji Pindolia and third placed handicap 13 Martin Wahome.
Handicap 26 Tom Abwao carded 67 nett to claim the Division C top prize with handicap 23 Aaron Kikuvi taking the second slot on 68 nett and the third prize with 69 nett was won by handicap 23 Symon Wambugu.


Feisal Mohamed playing off handicap 32 was the Division D winner after recording 64 nett while the handicap 30 Vikran Kanji brought 70 nett to walk home with the runners up prize and Lawi Mbira playing off handicap 38 carded 91 nett to emerge the guest winner.
The medal-ford scoring tournament organized by the Club attracted a total of 117 players from the home club, Seafront Mombasa, Diani’s Diamond Leisure, Kilifi’s Vipingo Ridge Baobab, Malindi and guests of the home club with valid handicaps.


The Coast golf junior Coach Mary Kandu was at it again clinching the Division A winner with 69 nett in the Ladies medal while handicap 17 Teresia Odoo brought 73 nett to claim the runners up prize and Truphena Oyaro playing off handicap 15 was third with 78 nett.
The B Division was won by handicap 28 Divinah Ongaki on 67 nett while the Club’s Chairman Jayne Githere playing off handicap 28 carded 70 nett to sit second and taking the third slot on 71 nett was handicap 22 Petronillah Kalee.
Handicap 5 Perviz Barnsley who had 71 nett and handicap 42 Millicent Palo with 81 nett were division D winner and runner up respectively.
Angel Wangari playing off handicap 40 recorded 75 nett to win the Junior prize while handicap 48 Muraayo Hersi had 98 nett to sit second as handicap 15 Carren Akoth on a count back score of 75 nett emerged the Best Lady Caddy after tying on the same score with runners up placed handicap 26 Saina Odhiambo.
The Club Chairman Jayne Githere flanked by her Captain Omar Lewa acknowledged the players for the big turn out and urged them to register in large numbers for the upcoming Inaugural Mombasa Chamber Golf tournament themed ‘Growing your business together’ scheduled at the Club course on Saturday, april,12th.
