GOLF NEWS-Elite Amateurs set to Tee off in the Prestigious 20225 NCBA Limuru Open.

-KGU Chairman Brian Akun expressed optimism about the future of golf in Kenya saying that the high level of interest in this year’s NCBA Series is a clear indicator that we are headed in the right direction in growing the game of golf in the country.

Elite amateur golfers will converge for the for the highly anticipated 2025 NCBA Limuru Open at the prestigious Limuru Country Club course teeing off from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th July 2025.
The tournament has drawn 99 top amateur golfers from across Kenya and neighboring countries where initially 152 entries were received but in line with the Union’s regulations and course capacity only 99 players made the final draw.
This year’s event is part of the NCBA Golf Series and is recognized as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) tournament.

Among the standout competitors are namely John Lejirma, current leader in the Order of Merit with 1,720 points, Michael Karanga ranked second with 1,063 points, Elvis Muigua (795 points), Ebill Omollo (439 points), Felix Dusabe of Rwanda, the field’s lowest handicapper at -2.7.

The field also includes top lady golfers such as Kellie Gachaga, Joyce Njuguini, Naomi, Wafula, Nancy Wairimu, and Maryam Mwakitawa, reflecting the inclusive and competitive spirit of the tournament.
All participants will compete in the first two rounds after which the top 33 players (including ties) will proceed to the final round on Sunday.
The tournament carries a prize fund of Ksh. 500,000 providing further incentive for outstanding performance.
Kenya Golf Union Vice Chairman Bria Akun expressed optimism about the future of golf in Kenya saying,“The high level of interest in this year’s NCBA Series is a clear indicator that we are headed in the right direction in growing the game of golf in the country. We are extremely grateful to NCBA Group for their continued support and commitment to developing amateur golf throughout the year.” said Akun.
Akun also extended his gratitude to the management and course staff of Limuru Country Club for their excellent preparation of the course.
“The dedication shown by the team at Limuru in maintaining the course to world-class standards is commendable. It provides a true test for the players and elevates the quality of the competition,” he added.
The NCBA Limuru Open promises to be a thrilling event,showcasing the best of amateur golf talent and reaffirming Kenya’s position as a rising force in the sport.
