The rich tradition of ladies’ golf will be on full display in the 2nd edition of the September 2025 Pendant golf tournament set for Ruiru Sports club course in Kiambu county this weekend.
The “Pendant” is one of the oldest and most prestigious medal-style competitions on the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) calendar, drawing lady golfers from across the country to compete for the coveted title.

Club Lady Captain Rodah Mukami expressed her excitement ahead of the tournament saying that the Pendant is a special event in ladies’ golf and are proud to bring it back to Ruiru for the second edition. “We look forward to welcoming players from across the country to experience not only great golf but also the warm spirit of friendship and competition that defines this tournament,” said Mukami.
This year’s tournament, supported by Family Bank and friends of the Lady Captain has attracted over 200 golfers.
While the overall winner of the Pendant will be a lady, the tournament has opened doors for male golfers who will feature in the subsidiary category, making it a vibrant day of golf and camaraderie.
Defending Champion June Waweru, reflected on her victory and shared her anticipation for this year’s edition saying that winning the Pendant last year was a proud moment and it showed how competitive and inspiring ladies’ golf has become.
“I’m excited to see who will lift the trophy this year and I wish all the participants the very best on the course, “said Waweru.
Ruiru Sports Club, known for its challenging but well-maintained course, will provide the perfect setting for this historic event, with players expected to showcase skill, resilience and the spirit of sportsmanship.
The competition not only highlights the long-standing traditions of ladies’ golf in Kenya but also continues to grow as a social and competitive platform that celebrates inclusivity and the enduring appeal of the sport.
This tournament that comes after the recent Eileen Belcher Trophy at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club where the Green Zone team won the Division A, will be one of the ongoing platforms for the Kenya Lady golfers preparing to participate in the forthcoming 2025 East and Central All Africa Challenge Trophy (EACAACT) ladies’ championship.
This World amateur ranking tournament being organized by the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU), is set for 20th-25th October at the Great Rift Valley Golf Resort course.
