Team Kenya has once again risen to the top of African amateur golf, claiming victory at the 2025 Africa Region IV Golf Championship with a team score of 642, held at the Golf Du Rova Luxury Hotel in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
They narrowly edged out Uganda who finished at 644 in the three-day championship, that showcased Kenya’s depth of talent and competitive excellence.
The winning team featured John Lejirma (Captain), Michael Karanga, Elvis Muigua and Junaid Ayaz Manji, who displayed both skill and resilience throughout the tournament.
Standout Performances John Lejirma led the field with a remarkable 7-under par, Elvis Muigua finished at +2, Michael Karanga closed at +3, and Junaid Ayaz Manji, making his senior regional debut, contributed a solid +5.
Captaincy Transition Following Kenya’s triumphant defense of the title, John Lejirma announced the handover of team captaincy to Elvis Muigua, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the national side going forward.
In a symbolic gesture, Lejirma presented Elvis with the Kenyan flag, signifying the transition in leadership.
Both Michael Karanga and Junaid Ayaz Manji congratulated Elvis on his appointment, applauding his growth, consistency, and readiness to step into the leadership role.
The Africa Region IV Championship is one of the premier amateur golf events under the Africa Golf Confederation (AGC), bringing together top teams from East and Central Africa.
