It will be a rejuvenating week as the Coast Golfing Community sharpen up their Golf sticks in readiness for the region’s season opener in the Nyali Golf and Country Club Lady Captain’s (Hilda Mugure) 2025 Prize Golf tournament teeing off at the Club’s par 71 Course in Mombasa County.
The week long tournament is being sponsored by various from the Tea sector, food and other beverages, Service Industry as well as Real Estates and friends of the Lady Captain.
The tournament that kicks off with the Juniors is to bid farewell to members and friends of the Lady Captain after a successful one year in office and will be the competition opener in the region.
Zaituni Mohamed who is among the prominent Lady Golfers at the Club described Mugure as a reputable Leader in the Tea sector who steered the Ladies’ section with professionalism and respect for the membership resulting in overwhelming support and participation in all her events.
She said that they return to the course with friends and competitors after a rejuvenating break and completely ready to hit the greens.
“Hope you all had a blast over the holidays. I’m happy to be back and looking forward to a great season with you all, ready to tackle the greens and push my limits. Let’s make this Golf season unforgettable and get this season started, “said Zaituni.
Mugure who will also be bowing out office, appreciated all her members and staffs for the smooth team work that enabled her run the office successfully.
“I attribute all to God’s favors and am confident that, with the support from the able Ladies’ committee, the Membership, the Staff, Management and the Board of Directors, all will be well, “said Mugure.
Mugure who expects a big field of players , further pointed out that some of her successful events during the year 2025 includes the inter-club tournament in the first half of the year that attracted all the Coast clubs.
“The Ladies’ Coast open in the month of August did not disappoint as nearly all the clubs in Kenya signed up while the monthly Ladies medals had record numbers too,” noted Mugure.
According to the programme, the Coast Golf Community from all the Coast Golf Clubs featuring players from the home Club, Sea-Link Mombasa, Diamond Leisure from Kwale County, with Kilifi County’s Vipingo ridge and Malindi, will start teeing off on Sunday with the Juniors.
The Caddy competition will be next on Monday, Club nite on Thursday, then friends of the Lady Captain will hit the ground on Friday before the much awaited main action scheduled on Saturday,17th, January.
