KCB Rugby Club were crowned champions of the 2026 Prinsloo Sevens after edging rivals Kabras Sugar 19-12 in a thrilling final played at the Nakuru Athletics Club on Sunday evening, marking a perfect start to their National Sevens Circuit title defense.
KCB booked their place in the final after an impressive knockout campaign as the Andrew Amonde-coached side first shut out hosts Nakuru RFC, popularly known as Wanyore, 19-0 in the quarterfinals.
This is before overcoming Ngong Road rivals Kenya Harlequin 24-12 in an entertaining semifinal to set up a highly anticipated clash against Kabras Sugar.

We now shift gears to the Dala Sevens, where we may also give some of the new boys an opportunity to showcase what they can do.”

In the group stages, the Bankers secured a 29-12 victory over Nondies before tightening up defensively to blank NYS Spades 14-0 in their second outing, finishing off the day with an impressive 25-5 win over Catholic Monks.
KCB 7s captain Elvis Olukusi was named the Player of the Final after an outstanding all-round performance against Kabras Sugar, leading from the front as the Bankers claimed their first Prinsloo Sevens title since 2020.
“Winning the first leg of the circuit gives us confidence heading into the rest of the season. Every player stepped up when called upon, and this trophy is a reward for the hard work we have put in during preseason. We appreciate the support from our fans, and now our focus is on maintaining this momentum in Dala,” noted Olukusi.

The venue holds special memories for the Bankers, having been the same ground where KCB were crowned National Sevens Circuit champions in last year’s edition.
