The par-72 PGA-Rated challenging Vipingo Baobab Golf Resort course in Kilifi Country could not deter Junior stars from registering brilliant scores during Round 7 of the KC Junior Golf Series 2026 played on Sunday.
The Junior stars as young as 8 to 18 years old from Nyali Golf & Country Club (Mombasa County), Mombasa Golf Club (Mombasa County), Malindi Golf and Country Club (Kilifi County), Vipingo Ridge (Kilifi County) and Diamond Leisure (Kwale County), left a mark after conquering the cool winds and fast greens of the course before the eyes of their excited parents who were caddying for them and friends cheering as supporters.
The Series played primarily as a gross stroke play competition divided across distinct age categories to foster junior golf development along the Kenyan Coast, saw the big Boys seniors of 14-18 years’ group top winner’s prize clinched by Aryan Awe Joseph who brought 97 gross.
He beat second placed closest rival Collin Muriuki who posted 101 gross while David Kaguru finished third with 104 gross.
In Girls 11-15 years of age, Ivanna Wanjiku claimed top honors with 122 gross, followed by Kanika Shah with 126 gross and Khatija Pasta with 137 gross.
Lukas Kampa yet again proved the star in Boys 12-14 years’ team, firing 82 gross, one of the lowest rounds of the day on the PGA course as Promise Ajello finished second with 101 gross, while Casey Ombija was third on 107 gross.
In Boys 10-12 years’ age group, Craig Fassler showed great composure on the tough back nine to win with 101 gross, ahead of Theuri Wamweru with 109 gross and Vincenzo De Florio with 110 gross.
The Boys 8-10 years old category was one of the most competitive of the day where Raheel Kadernani posted 47 gross to carry the lead.
He edged out Keith Ajello and Niall Chauhan who both carded 48 gross each, with Ajello taking second place on countback while Chauhan settle for the third slot and Amay Shah was fourth with 52 gross.
Girls 8-10 years’ team was won by Shanial Alma who returned an excellent 45 gross, beating runners up placed Samara Teneva who had 53 gross and third placed Avian Klee who registered 56 gross.
In the youngest division, Boys 8 & Under, Benny Salzmann continued his dominant run, returning an impressive 48 gross to claim the top spot and was followed by Emmanuel Klee with 52 gross, while Jamari Gwaro finished third with 55 gross.
In the girls’ categories, the standard was equally high where in Girls 8 & Under group, Maria Zawadi won with 60 gross, ahead of second placed Arianna Njeri on 65 and Caia Chauhan with 87 who was third.
Tournament Organizer Naeem Pasta said the PGA-rated course offered a perfect learning experience that tested every part of the juniors’ game who were able to successfully overcome all the challenges.
“The scores today show how much these kids are improving. We had over 40 juniors from age 6 to 18 and all displayed exceptional golf skills across this challenging windy course. The idea of the Series is to give them consistent, competitive golf on top courses like here. We thank Vipingo Ridge for hosting us and the parents for supporting the juniors. Next we head into the final rounds of the series where the overall champions will be decided,” said Pasta.
