DP World Tour has included Kenya as one of the hosting Countries in the 2027 global schedule featuring 42 events in 24 countries around the world.
Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL) announced on Thursday, the inclusion of Kenya as a country to host the 2027 DP World Tour under the Magical Kenya Open that will be held from 18th to 21st February 2027 at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi.
KOGL chairman Patrick Obath in a press statement yesterday said, since global visibility remains a central pillar for Kenya and its economy, the tournament targets an audience of more than 600 million viewers worldwide, positioning Kenya prominently on the global stage.
“This opportunity reaffirms that the Magical Kenya Open can no longer be defined solely by scores and leaderboards, but by the value it brings at the intersection of sport, business, culture, Tourism, sustainability, and positioning the country into a global community,” said Obath.
He said Kenya’s retention on the calendar reaffirms the country’s growing reputation as a reliable host for world-class sporting events and as a golf tourism destination.
Obath said together with the Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, and title sponsor Magical Kenya, the country will use the tournament to showcase Kenya’s conservation, hospitality and investment opportunities to the DP World Tour’s global audience.
DP World Tour’s Chief Executive Guy Kinnings said the 2027 calendar balances heritage and innovation and that the return of historic national Opens in Singapore and Portugal means 17 prestigious national Opens will feature on the Tour’s global schedule, along with other popular international championships and events played around the world.

It is a schedule that offers incredible international opportunities for existing and new players and one which will appeal to our fans globally,”.

According to the Tour’s calendar, the World Tour schedule indicates that two National Opens, the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open to take place from April 15-18 and the Open de Portugal/Cascais-Lisboa from May 13-16, will feature in the Asian Swing and European Swing respectively, also returning to the schedule from October 21-24 is the Hong Kong Open.
Both the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open will be co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour as part of the new tri-partite partnership, including the PGA Tour, which was agreed in July 2026.
The partnership is aimed at strengthening pathways for Asian players and creating a more coherent global calendar.
Moreover, one of Asia’s most historic tournaments, the Hong Kong Open returns to the DP World Tour’s schedule for the first time since 2019. Established in 1959, the event was co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and Asian Tour 18 times in total after first featuring on the DP World Tour’s schedule in 2002.
It returns to the iconic Hong Kong Golf Club from October 21-24, 2027, and is expected to attract a strong field given its timing in the season.
Similarly, the Deutsche Bank Singapore Open is one of Asia’s most prestigious national Opens, having been established in 1961.
The event was previously co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour between 2009 and 2012 and will be played at Sentosa Golf Club, one of Asia’s most scenic and challenging venues on Sentosa Island.
Its return adds significant weight to the Asian Swing, which has become a crucial stretch for players chasing Race to Dubai points.
Meanwhile, the Open de Portugal/Cascais-Lisboa returns to the schedule for the first time since 2020, adding another historic national Open to the European Swing.
Established in 1953, the Open de Portugal has featured 38 times on the DP World Tour schedule since the Tour’s inception in 1972.
The 2027 tournament will be played at Oitavos Dunes Links Golf, in Cascais, in May 2027, bringing links golf back to the fore in continental Europe.
Aside from the two returning national Opens, there are new dates for the Amgen Irish Open, FedEx Open de France and BMW PGA Championship due to the 2027 Ryder Cup, which takes place at Adare Manor in Ireland from September 17-19, 2027.
The Ryder Cup, golf’s biggest team event forces a reshuffle of the European calendar every two years.
The Amgen Irish Open, which returns to The K Club, host of the 2006 Ryder Cup, will be played from July 1-4, joining the Closing Swing for one season.
In the Back 9, the FedEx Open de France will take place from September 9-12 at Le Golf National, the 2018 Ryder Cup venue, hosting the tournament the week before the 2027 Ryder Cup.
The French Open will thus serve as the final form guide for European captain’s picks.
The BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club, the flagship event of the DP World Tour will take place from September 23-26, the week immediately after the Ryder Cup.
It will be the third Rolex Series event of 2027, following the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (January 21-24) and the Genesis Scottish Open (July 8-11), before the two DP World Tour Play-Off events, the Abu Dhabi Championship (November 4-7) and DP World Tour Championship, Dubai (November 11-14) conclude the season.
In total, the global schedule will feature 42 tournaments in 24 different countries as part of the Race to Dubai.
Additionally, along with the 2027 Ryder Cup, team match play will also feature at the start of the calendar year, with the Team Cup taking place from January 15-17, where Continental Europe will face Great Britain & Ireland.
For Kenya, the February 18-21 date at Karen offers perfect weather, firm fairways and a strong field expected, as it falls early in the season when many stars chase early Race to Dubai points and Olympic ranking points ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics qualifying window.
