Kilifi Starlets, a remarkable group of girls in Kilifi County have found solidarity through soccer, aiming to drive positive change in their community despite facing challenges such as early pregnancies, school dropout, and financial strain.
These resilient young Women are determined to combat gender based violence, reduce early pregnancies, and counter drug abuse to create a lasting impact and connect with their society where they have embarked on a mission to plant mangroves as a means to mitigate climate change.
According to the Group’s Chairman Anthony Kadenge, The group is now seeking funds to enable them create awareness by shedding light on their transformative journey and the broader implications of their actions.
He explained that the Kilifi Starlets represent a group of young girls based in Mkongani village and some coming from other Sub Counties of Kilifi County who have come together through their shared passion for soccer, aiming to address the pressing issues of gender-based violence, early pregnancies, and substance abuse in their community.

He said that Kilifi County, like many other Coastal regions, faces the interconnected challenges of environmental degradation and social inequalities and that Climate change intensifies these challenges, affecting vulnerable communities disproportionately.

He said that the Story of Kilifi Starlets journey began with their shared love for soccer despite facing personal challenges such as early pregnancies, school dropouts, and financial burdens forcing them to harness their collective strength to initiate positive change.
