GOLF-Coast Hotelier Pauline Nduva Sinks a Birdie to lead in the Diamond Leisure Golf Club’s Lady Captain Prize (Vanda Harries);

Coast Hotelier Pauline Nduva utilized  her  skills  to earn victory  in the Diamond Leisure  Golf Resort  Club’s Lady Captain (Vanda Harries)  Prize Golf tournament staged at the Club’s par 72  Championship Course  in Diani, Kwale County on Saturday,18th,March,2023.

Nduva who is the General Manager at the Diani Sea Resort Playing off handicap 36 dominated her home course by carding 38 stable ford points to emerge the overall Members winner beating a team of 150 golfers.

The daylong 18 holes tourney was hosted by the Club to bid farewell to the outgoing Lady Captain Vanda Harries after serving for three years.

Nduva’s celebrated win victory came calling after sinking a rare birdie on hole 16th, and playing several pars with mixed bogey shots for a 20 and 18 points in both nines to register her first major victory for the year.

“I have not been playing Golf for a while following my busy schedule after Tourism picked up since last November but Iam happy for the win. Though it was  competitive  today  with the course being very drive  and the hot climate  but  I thank God  it was a good day  with lots of fun especially  with my playing partners. Hopefully I shall play even better for the next coming events,” said Nduva.

Handicap 18 Kerry Venturini was the runners up on 31 points (18-13), beating handicap 21 Cheryl Bush to the third slot with a single point.

Ian Leckie playing off handicap 19 returned 45 points (25-20) to emerge the Men members winner while handicap 12 Ken Ndege settled for the runners up slot with 37 points (22-15).

Harsimran Kaur playing off handicap 17  was the  Guest  Lady winner on 40 points (20-20) and taking the  same prize  for Men was her Dad and Mentor  handicap 9 Gurbux Singh  who brought  34 points (18-16).

The Best winner prize for over 36 Handicappers was won by handicap 40 Amar Hunjan with 40 points (20-20) while handicap 41 Eva Karuiku claimed the runners up slot on 34 points (15-19).

 The tournament was graced by among others the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Coast Representative Terry Odoo, and several members of the Mombasa Golf Club led by its Lady Captain Fiona Mbadi.

 Mombasa Golf Club who are currently training for the forth coming Tana Sheild, also sent a large number of Golfers led by the Club’s Captain James Gitonga with others among them being the Club’s former Club Chairman Ken Mwangi, George Thama and Elijah Ibua.

Diamond Leisure Club’s outgoing Lady Captain Vanda Harries thanked the Golfers and the Club Members and Committee Officials for making the event successful.

“For our guess from Mombasa, I think this morning you must have experienced the feelings at the feelings while crossing the Likoni ferry. This is the same feelings we usually under go when we come to your tournaments,” said Harries.

The  next event at the  Club  will be  the Women’s Day  Golf  Tournament  to played on Saturday,1st April,2023 sponsored by Diani Sea Resort  and urged Golfers  to attend in large numbers.

At the Kenya Railways Golf Course also on Saturday, the Railway Ladies Invitation Tourney was won by the team of Mildred Malubi and Wairimu Wanjaiya with a combined count back score of 43points.

The duo had tied on the same score with the team of Anne Muya and Fenah Bosire while the third slot was claimed by the team of Grace Kathumbi and Keziah Korir who returned 42points.
