Over 180 Golfers converge at the par 71 Sea-Link Mombasa Golf Course in Mombasa County for the Club Chairman’s Ken Mwangi Prize Golf tournament that kicks off today (Saturday).
The Golfers drawn from the home Club, Coast Golf Clubs and others from across the Country will be bidding farewell to the Outgoing Club Chairman Mwangi whose two years term in office comes to end.
The 18 holes stable ford daylong event that starts from 7am has attracted several sponsors among them Equity Bank,Nyali Center,Kericho Gold,Famers Choice,EABL, and Fantasy.
Others on board includes Combrok Limited, Spaceman IT, Aruba Lodges, The Whisky and Dala Dala Waters.
Lined up to tee off first at 7am is the team flight of David Kimathi, Geoffrey KIsaka, Kamami Njoroge, and Lawyer Gabriel Gakuo.
The last flight to tee off at 1.40 will be the team of Joel Mochanga,Dr.Deepak Maru,Japhet Obonyo and Henry Kamau a single handicapper playing his last few club events before turning Professional.
The Host Ken Mwangi will also be playing and teeing off at 12.10pm alongside George Thama, Tirus Githaiga and Sammy Kamau.
Mwangi said a lot of exciting prizes has been lined to the winners and promised that it’s going to be a day filled with a lot fun around the course.
“Many Golfers has been waiting for this day, I can promise them that they won’t be disappointed because apart from playing to win, it’s going to be a lot of fun around the course and in the evening during the prize giving ceremony, “said Mwangi.
The tournament comes after the Club hosted its Captain’s (James Gitonga) Prize last Saturday, after the Lady Captain’s (Gladys Kasi) a fortnight ago.
At the Thika Green Golf Resort in the same day, golfers will be battling for supremacy in the Annual Metumi Golf tournament that has jointly been sponsored by Metumi Anchors, Muungano Microfinance, Kam Insurance, EABL, K2U Africa and Hotel Bulleys.
The event starts from 6.40am with the flight team of W.Nderitu, A.Muita.B.Kimotho and A.Kinyanjui from the first tee and at 6.56 Am, the group of J. Mugambi, J. Njogu and S. Mwaura tees off from the tenth tee.
Machakos Golf Club has the Chairman’s Inauguration Golf day sponsored Aombe Clan from 6.32Am and Vet Lab Sports Club will be the host for the Kabete Ladies Open sponsored by Tononoka, Safaricom, MultiChoice, Joshansen, ICEALION Group, Tafaria, Sense of Africa, PayKit, Tropical Heat.
This event starts from 7am with the team of Esther Chumo, P.Muthoni and F.Gichuru.
