Adrian Mwangi of Vet lab Golf Club was crowned the overall winner of the opening leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the lush par 72 Vet lab golf course on Saturday.
The Handicap 33 golfer carded an excellent score of 39 stable ford points to beat his closest challenger handicap 27 Emmanuel Nyakaberia who carded 36 points.Nyakaberia was named the overall men winner beating Eric Njunu who carded 35 points while Daniel handicap 19 Karuga was a distant third having carded 34 points.
“I am happy with my win here today. KCB have done an incredible job kick starting the tour here at Vetlab. As a member, we could not let this win slip through our fingers. I can say my swing was there and the fine weather also contributed to my success, “said Mwangi.
The tournament began with a ladies Golf clinic on Friday afternoon before the main tournament on Saturday and the juniors’ clinic was conducted at the same venue on Sunday.
In the ladies Category, Caroline Mokeria playing off handicap 45 carded 37 points to beat handicap 39 Grace Katumbi on countback with Alice Adere settling for the third position carding 35 points.
Lady golfer Scola Onsongo playing off handicap 34 scooped the staff winner award carding 37 points while her counterpart Allan Kirui playing off handicap 26 came in second with 34 points.
The tournament now head to Eldoret Golf Club for its second leg before landing at Limuru for the third leg in two-week’ time.
